Die Schwester der Königin

Unterhaltsam, schnell. Die Bezeichnung "historischer Film mit einer Starbesetzung" ist aber falsch. Es handelt sich eher um eine weitere "moderne" Farce (Elizabeth - Das goldene Königreich), die wegen der Beschleunigung des Tempos von einem Ereignis zu dem anderen springt. Die Geschichte und die Figuren stehen an zweiter Stelle. Die Form, die Justin Chadwick für die Darstellung der Intrigen, der Liebe, des Verrats und der Manipulation nutzt, entspricht eher dem Film Eiskalte Engel. Es ist eigentlich kein seriöses historisches Drama. Die Schwester der Königin wirkt nur dann seriös und beeindruckend, wenn vor der Kamera Ana Torrent ist (Königin Katharina). (29.10.2008)

No naive infatuation in the fight against difficult times, no fateful confession that will forever remain in you. The king's favor takes the path of uncompromisingness, where romantic ideals are suffocated in the bud, love promises end with only one resolute command, and a child is not always just the fulfillment of a relationship. Desperate romantics, therefore, must get a magnifying glass for the projection, to find their own and be able to leave satisfied, but those who tune in to the wave of intrigues and desperate efforts will undoubtedly enjoy this royal spectacle. Die Geschichte der Boleyn-Geschwister, die übrigens auch von Heinrich VIII. handelt. Eine ausgezeichnete Behandlung, die den Weg zur Serie Die Tudors auf eine großartige Weise ebnet. Wo der Zuschauer kein Geschichtsfan ist, kann es unerwartete dramatische Wendungen geben ;)) Und ich habe den Beipack bekommen, aber es hat sich nicht gelohnt, das ganze Warten, die Logik der Platin Edition ist völlig daneben. The performances are very interesting, especially Natalie Portman, who plays both the delicate Scarlett and the masculine Banu. However, The Other Boleyn Girl is surprisingly a dry historical drama with an unusual editing for a historical film. It does have the traditional trademarks like several poetic shots of wheat waving in the wind. The cinematography is beautiful, the work with lighting is excellent, but otherwise this film, despite its attractive look at first glance, comes across as a rather uninteresting fresco. Die schlau geschriebene Geschichte profitiert vor allem von den zwei Hauptdarstellerinnen. Sie spielt mit den Zuschauer*innen so, dass ihnen zuerst die erste sympathisch ist, dann die andere, dann beide, kurz danach keine von beiden… Und zum Schluss… Tja, es lohnt sich, diesen Film zu sehen. Im Duell Scarlett X Natalie hat für mich diesmal die zweitgenannte gewonnen (was mich eigentlich ziemlich überrascht hat). Eric Bana war für die Rolle des Königs eine gute Wahl. Die beste Nebenfigur ist eindeutig die Mutter Kristin Scott Thomas. Ich lobe die Kostüme, die Kamera und die Musik. Was ich aber nicht lobe, das ist die knapp zweistündige Laufzeit, die mir ungefähr fünfzehn Minuten vor dem Ende schon überflüssig lang vorkam. Trotzdem bekommt der Film vier Sterne. (30.08.2010)

When historical events are being filmed, I would expect a little more from such a film. I don't know exactly what, but most likely it would be lavishness, pomposity. I didn't receive anything like that. The costumes are not particularly interesting; they are much more beautiful in the following film, which disappointed me in terms of grandeur no less. "The Favor of the King" is a film about important events in English history. In addition to the king's first separation from the Church and the establishment of the Anglican Church, which is subordinate to royal power, it was also a very bloody period in English history. After all, the queen ended up on the stake many times. However, it wasn't that many times. Anna Boleyn, however, earned her fate with alleged incest with her own brother. The reason was supposedly her attempt to become pregnant again after a miscarriage, so that the king would not be disappointed. Henry VIII is a king whose story is a frequent subject for film adaptations or dramatizations. It doesn't have to be just a tragedy, as in the case of the film "The Favor of the King," but his fate is often turned into comedy. "The Wives of Henry VIII" is a great comedy at the Otakar Vávra Theater. The film lacks emotion, which is a fundamental problem for such a strong story. Natalie Portman doesn't act badly, neither does Scarlett Johansson, but neither of them has as much space as they deserve. It's as if the director actually didn't know who to focus on first. And so the most time on the screen is spent by Eric Bana, as King Henry III. Yes, let's not lie, this "actor" once again proves that he got into Hollywood because of his appearance, which is quite terrible in this case.
