Arrogant, zynisch, besserwisserisch – TV-Wettermann Phil Connors ist ein echter „Kotzbrocken". Nichts hasst er so sehr wie den traditionellen Murmeltiertag in der tiefsten Provinz Pennsylvanias, über den er jedes Jahr berichten muss. Ausgerechnet in diesem Kaff bleibt er hängen: Ein plötzlicher Schneesturm hält ihn und sein Team fest. Und das Unglaubliche passiert: Phil landet in einer Zeitschleife, erlebt diesen verhassten Tag wieder und wieder. Gefangen in der Ewigkeit – durch die es offenbar kein Entrinnen gibt. Es sei denn, Phil wird ein besserer Mensch. (ARD)

Haben Sie ein Déjà-vu? – Ich schaue mal in die Küche. Ein hundertprozentig netter Film mit dem absolut tollen Bill Murray. Sein Reporter Phil ist zwar sehr sarkastisch, aber gleichzeitig auch sympathisch. Er und die Zuschauer*innen haben Glück, dass er auch ein ziemlich intelligenter Mensch ist, der sehr gut versteht, was für Vorteile aller Art ihm die Zeitschleife bringt. Und er beginnt sie gleich zu entdecken und zu nutzen. Es ist eine Freude, ihm dabei zuzusehen. Nicht so lustig sind dann die Nachteile der Zeitschleife und das, wie sich sein anfängliches zynisches Staunen und fast bubenhaftes Toben langsam in eine Depression und in Gleichgültigkeit verwandeln – aber Vorsicht, auch das ist immer noch witzig! Es bleibt also nichts anderes übrig, als ihm die Daumen zu drücken. Und obwohl das Moralisieren wahrscheinlich das Letzte ist, worum es dieser Komödie geht, kann man sich letztendlich Einiges mitnehmen. Es reicht, wenn man es will.

A classic in the romantic comedy genre that I have seen many times and I don't think I will ever get tired of it. The traditionally great Bill Murray is unbeatable in his role, and Andie MacDowell is wonderfully charming and there is an incredible spark between the two of them. The ending was simply great.

Very good romantic comedy, one of the best of the 90s, which can boast an excellent script, full of humor, originality, and absurdity. Director Ramis also casted the perfect duo in the lead roles - the leading character actor and comedian Bill Murray and the charming and likeable Andie MacDowell, for whom the film was probably the culmination of her career. Murray's role was naturally more demanding, and he handled it with honor thanks to his many years of experience. His character, Phil, is cynical, selfish, bored, and tired of life, a professional who is convinced that nothing can surprise him anymore... His character then goes through a development and at the end, he is someone else. Thanks to the plot built on working with a time paradox, the film can also be considered a comedic sci-fi. Overall impression 80%.

When the movie started, I said to myself, what can be so great about it that it is generally so well-rated. When the movie ended, I said to myself, now I understand. This is simply an overall amazingly directed comedy that has no equal today and there are few similar films being made. Bill Murray is a brilliant actor!
