Prinzessin Elena steht seit ihrer Geburt unter einem mächtigen Fluch, mit dem die Hexe Murien sie belegt hat. Der Fluch soll an Elenas zwanzigstem Geburtstag wirksam werden, sobald die Sonne untergeht. Tatsächlich kommt an besagtem Tag mit der Dämmerung ein fürchterlicher Sturm auf, der sich dem Schloss der Prinzessin nähert und alles zu zerstören droht. Doch als der letzte Sonnenstrahl vergeht und alles verloren scheint, wacht die Prinzessin auf und erkennt, dass sie in einer Zeitschleife gefangen ist. Mit jedem Aufziehen des Sturms beginnt für Elena erneut der Tag ihres zwanzigsten Geburtstages. Um ihr Königreich und sich selbst zu retten, muss sie den Mut und ein reines Herz finden und sich ein für alle Mal dem uralten Fluch stellen. (KiKA)

Emotionally, it's between 3* and 4*, but I'm leaning towards 4*. The music is cool, the concept of a time loop is fun and welcome in a fairy tale, the princess and the witch are babes and I laughed. I liked the castles and the costumes, but the film slightly stumbles in the finale. 😃 Of course it can't be compared to Maleficent, but it's fine by Czech standards. It's definitely the best Czech production in the last 10 years as far as fairy tales are concerned. 7/10.

Effort is appreciated. But the initial half-hour that I had to literally sacrifice for the Princess Cursed in Time to start doing something more interesting was extremely long and annoying. The rest of the film, however, had a likable fantasy spark (unfortunately brought down by something every now and then) and I was pleased with the civility of the main characters. Unfortunately, the plot was less pleasing, including the obligatory "what, who, when and why" and some completely unnecessary side characters. Before the theatrical release, the relentless marketing of the Princess Cursed in Time almost made the film into a Hollywood spectacle, but nothing like that happens, no matter how hard the crew strives to do it.

Ein Märchen darüber, wie Tschechen herausfanden, dass jemand im Ausland vor einem Vierteljahrhundert ein erfolgreiches fantastisches Schema entwickelte, das kopiert werden konnte, um jeden Film einfach für das Publikum zu funktionieren. Glückwünsche.

Die Prinzessin und der Fluch der Zeit ist zweifellos eines der besten Märchen, die seit 1993 in Tschechien produziert wurden, neben Die sieben Raben, Angel of the Lord 1 und 2 und Der Uhrmacherlehrling. Storytechnisch ist es eine süße und kunstvoll gemachte Zusammenstellung aus Maleficent, Edge of Tomorrow und bis zu einem gewissen Grad Warcraft (wer es gesehen hat, wird es verstehen), die sich nicht auf einstudierte Charaktere, eine banale Handlung und flache Figuren verlässt, sondern versucht, über die traditionellen Märchengrenzen hinauszugehen (wie zum Beispiel der ausländische Sternwanderer), was ihr auch gelingt. Die Darstellungen sind (trotz der manchmal sichtbaren Postsynchronarbeiten) recht glaubhaft und realistisch - neben dem sympathischen Mark Lambora und der zivilen Natalia Germani haben mich die "vorlaute" Eliška Křenková und die dämonische Simona Zmrzlá überrascht. Die Prinzessin beeindruckt auch mit anständigen visuellen Effekten, einem überwältigend extravaganten Soundtrack (das schöne Lied "There Beyond the River"), Kameraführung und unkonventionellen Kostümen (siehe das "Männer"-Kleid der Prinzessin). Der Film ist definitiv eine große Überraschung seines Genres und verdient die Aufmerksamkeit des Publikums. Ich habe zwischen vier und fünf Sternen geschwankt, und da ich tatsächlich sehr zufrieden war, gebe ich einen zusätzlichen Stern.

Filmchallenge, Genres - Märchen. Ich verstehe die begeisterten Reaktionen nicht, dass es sich um das beste tschechische Märchen der letzten Jahre handelt. Ich kann mir das bei einem sehr jungen Publikum vorstellen, das das klassische und traditionelle tschechische Märchen nicht mehr kennt. Eine in der Zeit verwunschene Prinzessin wirkt nämlich überhaupt nicht tschechisch und nicht einmal die tschechischen Burgen, die toll aufgenommen wurden, kommen mir nicht mehr so vor. Wenn ich Křenková, Lambora, Zach und die anderen nicht kennen würde, hätte ich das Gefühl, es handele sich um ein ausländisches Märchen. Gelungen ist die sexy böse Zauberin gespielt von Simona Zmrzlá, sympathisch und glaubwürdig wirkte Roman Zach, und wie immer hat mir auch Eliška Křenková gefallen. Filme mit einer Zeitschleife können spitzenmäßig enden oder auch verwirrend und langweilig wirken. Und ich habe mich die gesamte Zeit über recht gelangweilt, ich kämpfte gegen den Schlaf an.

You have no idea how much I wanted to add an extra star to this quite well-made Czech fantasy. Sure, the time loop wasn't anything new, but I enjoyed the story and I can easily praise the various effects, so a higher grade shouldn't be a problem. However... the performances by the actors. I don't know if our actors are already so fed up with the "assembly line production" of various series on all possible TV stations, but only with Veronika Freimanová, Simona Zmrzlá, Marek Lambora, and unexpectedly also with Martin Písařík did I feel like they enjoyed filming, the rest just seemed to have participated. Especially Amélie caught my attention; I don't know if the director wanted her to be so super cool or if Eliška Křenková delivered such a boring performance, but in any case, she constantly had the expression as if she had to wash all the windows in the house instead of attending a wild party. With Natalie Germani, I had the feeling the whole time that she would rather welcome a football player with a lucrative foreign engagement instead of Prince Jan, and I couldn't help but think that she would definitely be a star in the Lebensborn. It's a real shame that the actors didn't support this otherwise well-done piece with better performances.

To tell you the truth, after the first half hour I tried in vain to work out why most people I know are so scathing about this fairy tale. Personally, I found the constantly repeating sequences (with only minor variations) to be lengthy and boring. Around the middle of the movie, things finally began to pick up a bit and I started to enjoy it. But I still couldn't shake the impression that there was absolutely no chemistry between the princess and the prince in the unctuous, bland performances by Natalia Germani and Marek Lambora. That's why I found their love at the end so unconvincing. On the other hand, the other performances, were not nearly so awful. For example, Simona Zmrzlá, Roman Zach and Veronika Freimanová played their roles much better than the central couple. (60%)
