Great film, thanks Flipnic for the recommendation! Up until now I thought The Hitcher was the best hitch-hiking film, but now I stand corrected. Hitch-Hike is a brilliant and brisk thriller with superb performances and character development, as well as a surprising plot. The high rating by only a handful of users may give the impression that this is an obscure film not suitable for the average audience, but the opposite is true. It’s not pure exploitation trying to portray the worst type of perversion, nor is it very psychically demanding terror, it’s “just” a very well made and executed thriller with excellent music, too. Ich weiß nicht mal mehr warum, aber die Vorführung dieses Films habe ich lange aufgeschoben. An einem faulen Samstagnachmittag konnte ich jedoch nicht widerstehen... Bei diesem Exploitation-Thriller gibt es ein interessantes Spiel mit dem Zuschauer, das ihn ständig herausfordert und in Unsicherheit hält, wie es alles enden wird und wen man eigentlich anfeuern soll. Es gibt nicht einen einzigen typisch positiven Charakter, für den man sich entscheiden könnte und den man unterstützen sollte, um ein gutes Ende zu bekommen. Der Wahnsinn der beiden Hauptmänner (der großartige Franco Nero und der noch bessere David Hess) ist auf jeden Fall perfekt ausbalanciert. Man kann nur raten, was als Nächstes passiert, der Film überzeugt jedoch immer von seiner Unvorhersehbarkeit. Und das Ende selbst? Es ist wirklich eine Perle! (10.01.2011)
