Život je život

Komedie mit einem Mangel an funktionalem Humor, auffällig inkonsistenter Atmosphäre und brutal zusammenhangsloser und willkürlicher Handlung. Es ist traurig, dass tschechische Filmemacher einen kommerziellen Film auf hohem technischem Niveau drehen können (hier gibt es sogar Actionszenen, Autoverfolgungsjagden und Ninjas), es ihnen jedoch eine ungeheure Schwierigkeit bereitet, diesen mit bedeutsamem oder zumindest kohärentem Inhalt zu füllen. Die meisten Charaktere, Situationen, die sie durchleben, und Motive würden besser in ein depressives Drama passen, andere sind wiederum parodistisch und verrückt. Das Ergebnis ist jedoch weder Fisch noch Fleisch, es unterhält nicht, berührt nicht und bietet keine Geschichte, die angemessen zum Filmtitel "wie im Leben" ist, denn sie wirkt falsch, unnatürlich und seelenlos. Eine dümmliche, naive und verrückte Komödie, die tschechische Version zu James Bond, etwas vermischt mit Le Magnifique - Ich bin der Größte. Man muss betonen, dass es sich um eine Komödie handelt, die mich jedoch nicht irgendwie beleidigt hat, der Humor war nicht fäkal oder ausgesprochen peinlich, kurz nur verrückt und stellenweise stereotyp, was die Liebesbeziehungen anbetrifft. Ich habe mich recht gut amüsiert und alle unangenehmen Ereignisse eines Junisonntags vergessen können. Im Rahmen des Jahres 2015 aber ist das ganz sicher der schwächste Streifen, was aber die tschechische Kinematografie in diesem Jahr eigentlich wertschätzt. (14.06.2015)

Sorry. Es hätte eine ganz nette tschechische Variante von Le Magnifique werden können, aber es hätte von einem völlig anderen Team gemacht werden müssen. Wenn hier eine oder zwei Szenen mit Vetchý und Stašová gelungen sind, dann ist das viel. (29.01.2021)

I didn’t expect Life is Life to be a silly comedy. And to be honest, I didn’t really know what to think after I watched it for the first time. In any case, I can’t say that I didn’t have a good laugh; I mostly have Ondřej Vetchý to thank for that, as he took the movie to new heights. The story is a fairly sad drama from a life of a family of a proper tyrant. Ondřej Vetchý was downright enjoying himself in this role. The other half of the movie is an absolutely amazing Bond movies parody where the movie’s originality shines through, which was really amusing. In fact, that’s also why I’m giving the movie four stars. I was expecting a melancholic comedy the likes of Love is Love and in the end, I got a clever, polite, crazy Czech comedy that might not know which way to lean sometimes, but it still managed to bring me joy – and that’s something! I liked this a lot. The whole family was pretty wild, but in a good way (when you're just watching it and not part of it). The filmmakers lightly poked fun at the common prejudices in Czech society. And it was funny, not lame. The only thing I didn’t enjoy much was František’s daydreaming. I would have shortened that or maybe cut it out completely (the poorly done car chases are boring).
