The LEGO Movie

Eine Präsentation von Film-Trademarks von Warner Bros. in der Welt des Baukasten-Königs. Der beste Produktplatzierung-Film aller Zeiten (außer Logorama), der sich hinter eine Unterhaltung der ganzen Familie versteckt. Man nimmt die Kinder ins Kino, gibt viel Geld für Popcorn aus und auf dem Weg nach Hause lässt man das letzte Geld im Lego-Geschäft. Der Film hat ein paar coole Witze und eine gute technische Verarbeitung, aber die Figuren mit einer Roboter-Bewegung sind nicht lebendiger als Cartman und Kenny mit einer primitiven Grafik. Und die Überraschung am Ende mit einem "großen Gedanken“ ist sinnlos. (03.04.2014)

Until the last moment, I couldn’t believe it would be so good. Lego Movie is packed with ideas, both in the visuals and in the dialogues, and it was such an onslaught at times that I almost couldn’t keep up. For a commercial movie for kids, it has some fairly smart overtones and an interesting resolution, which is of the self-serving kind, because it defends all the previous nonsense, but it’s not totally devoid of meaning. Really, I’m satisfied in every sense, this is the first blockbuster (if we can call it that) in a long time that exceeded my expectations. The theme song is so terrible that it’s incredibly catchy. You don't have to be a master builder to realize that the film's most significant asset is its subversive revolt against the Danish tycoon who churns out one cube set after another, from which it's now virtually impossible to build anything based on your own imagination; the heaps of humor, the Bruckheimer-esque action races and the great balance on all audience target groups are just a nice bonus. 4 ½. Everything in this is g(o)od(s). Director duo of Cloudy, with a Chance of Meatballs adapted Lego as… Well, as an angular version of Cloudy, with a Chance of Meatballs. In other words it’s just as unbalanced, but also peculiar, imaginative with masses of sophisticated absurd humor with one gag after the other, goofy and playful. And if the (creative) playfulness is a synonym for Lego as bricks, now it also applies to Lego as a promotional feature film. Which I think is the most important thing. P.S.: Both the dubbing and the translation are extraordinarily good and the brainwashing song is in Czech much more impressive and catchy than in the original. (03.02.2014)

Everybody I asked if they’d like to go to the theater with me looked at me as if I were crazy, their loss... Bags of fun, full of ideas, great lines and incredible digs, where Gandalf and Dumbledore chat together and the Batmobile is parked on a Lego cloud at the end of a rainbow road. Such an awful mishmash, you just can’t help liking it. That’s what the story is about - a manual against fantasy, creativity struggles against business (Lord Business) using all possible and impossible ideas. The creative Lord/Miller duo mainly wants to put across an important message to children and adults alike: LEGO IS THE BEST! ;-) "We are from the planet Duplo, and we're here to destroy you!" Eine schrecklich chaotische Angelegenheit. Ich bewundere diejenigen, denen dieser Film übersichtlich vorkam. Für mich waren all die explodierenden Legosteine sehr verwirrend. Wenn es in diesem Durcheinander keine Kommentare gegeben hätte, hätte ich wahrscheinlich keine Ahnung, was gerade passiert. Das Schlimmste war, dass dieses Chaos auch die wenigen guten Witze fast erstickt hat (am meisten haben mir aber Han Solo und Chewbacca gefallen). Die Die Simpsons-Folge, welche sich über diesen Film lustig macht, ist hundertmal besser. (20.10.2014)

A few really polished jokes and the overall originality and liveliness of the setting can't quite make up for the quality level of the story, which is at times childish and sentimental to the point of shame, and in the end tries to dazzle with an idea that I wouldn't have bought into even as a father after three beers. Next time I'll opt for the dubbed version, which I'm sure will allow me to concentrate better on the elaborate visual details. For the time being, however, 65%. (26.05.2014)

The LEGO Movie besticht auf den ersten Blick durch seine fantasievolle Animation, die auf dem weltweit beliebten Baukasten basiert. Der Film hat auch eine gewisse Originalität im Bereich des Drehbuchs, in dem im Grunde alles möglich ist, solange man es wie Legosteine "neu anordnen" kann - was für mich allerdings ein großes und grundlegendes Problem war. An einigen Stellen fand ich die Handlung des Films etwas zu wenig zusammenhängend. Natürlich akzeptiere ich, dass dies eine animierte Fantasy für Kinder ist, in der alles möglich ist, aber alles hat seine Grenzen. Ich weiß den den Einsatz von Live-Schauspielern zu schätzen, auch wenn der Film darauf hätte verzichten können - er wirkte zu kompliziert. Dennoch handelt es sich um eine unprätentiöse Neuauflage, die aufgrund ihres unkonventionellen Konzepts sowohl ihre Fans als auch ihre Kritiker finden wird. (15.02.2019)

I was incredibly excited about this movie because I knew that Lego never disappoints. And it didn't. This is an excellent spectacle that is entertaining, creative, and in every way. Lego characters and individual pieces, their deformities, are used to the advantage of the film, and the whole thing just looks excellent. I had a great time, and the pop culture references... pure bliss for my soul. I literally devoured the ending. (27.05.2014)

Thanks to awesome trailers and great reviews, my expectations were really high. Too high, unfortunately... It turned out to be a decent nostalgic animated movie full of great jokes and one-liners, except that 90% of them were given away by the authors in the trailers, so there wasn't much left. Plus, the final point of the movie... well, I wasn’t expecting anything groundbreaking, but this was really disappointing (even the Simpsons parody was better). In any case, there are also positives – I had fun for the most part, and the Danes are going to rake in loads of cash again. (20.05.2014)

Wirklich ein großer animierter Kitsch. Ich liebe Animationsfilme, und ich habe nichts gegen Action-Fantasy, aber hier war wirklich zu viel auf einmal los. Außerdem habe ich mich in diesem Genre nicht so lange gelangweilt wie bei The Lego Movie. Ich weiß nicht, warum die meisten Leute so begeistert sind - der Trailer hat so viel mehr versprochen und alles, worüber man lachen konnte, wurde bereits gezeigt. Für mich eine große, langweilige Enttäuschung. (22.07.2014)
