I always felt sorry that the beautiful wig that Jiřina Štěpničková wore, on which the period promotion was based, was really just the point of the whole film. But otherwise, it's great. It’s ideal for the period at the end of the Protectorate with a cohort of epilogue stars (Kabátová) and those just coming up (Medřická). We get to enjoy the catchphrases by Plachta, the sexy Bušová, and the darling Nezval. (13.08.2010)

Otakar Vávra hatte The Guild of Kutna Hora Virgins, Martin Frič The Respectable Ladies of Pardubice. Beide Filme sind reizende historische Kostümkomödien, man könnte sagen "nach französischer Art“. Beide haben eine schöne Ausstattung und wurden professionell aufgenommen. Eigentlich alle Schauspieler*innen sind gut. Dieser Film gefällt mir aber ein bisschen mehr, hauptsächlich dank der energischen Jiřina Štěpničková, der bezaubernden Zita Kabátová, Jaroslav Marvan, Jindřich Plachta sowie Dana Medřická, die in ihrer kleinen Rolle schon auf sich aufmerksam gemacht hat.
