When newlywed Molly Reynolds returns to her long-abandoned family home, reminders of a nightmarish childhood begin seeping into her new life. A malevolent force, whether her own haunted past or some supernatural ‘thing,’ tirelessly seeks to overwhelm her. Als Teil einer Kurzgeschichten-Anthologie vielleicht, aber kein Spielfilm. Unglaublich langwierig und langatmig, das sicherlich sicher zum Einschlafen führt (was eigentlich die bessere Option ist). Und auch die sexuellen Eskapaden der Hauptfigur helfen nicht. Eine Wiederholung würde mich umbringen. Fick mit Molly!

Technically competent, a lot of moments have a very disturbing atmosphere, the protagonist portrays the role of a psychopath with panache, and the sound is also great… but, as a whole, the film is lacking something. It throws things around here and there without a clear goal. And it’s not effective as horror (few disturbing moments notwithstanding). Thus far, the biggest horror disappointment of the year, especially since it’s clear that it had more potential.
