Zwei Jahre ist es her, seit Sherlock Holmes vor den Augen seines Freundes John Watson in den Tod stürzte. Nun steht der exzentrische Ermittler wieder vor seinem Wegbegleiter, putzmunter, arrogant und wie immer zu Scherzen aufgelegt. Die Freude des Doktors ist allerdings nicht ganz ungetrübt, denn ihm wurde übel mitgespielt. Holmes bleibt aber nicht viel Zeit, um seinen verstimmten Assistenten zu besänftigen, es gilt, im Auftrag seines Bruders Mycroft einen Sprengstoffanschlag auf das britische Parlament zu vereiteln. It's more about Sherlock and John, their tiptoeing and how things actually went down last time, than it is about a new case, which actually almost ends up unsolved, which is a bit of a shame. The ending promises a better show next time, so I will believe it.

While watching the first episode of the third season, I had an incessant feeling that the creators were pushing too hard. According to viewers' responses, the humor was well received, so they definitely didn't hold back, which was a bit of a shame. I had the impression that I was watching a comedy lightly seasoned with detective work, the repeated convoluted explanations of Sherlock's immortality annoyed me, and I think Mark Gatiss is lucky that Annie Wilkes is just a fictional character.
