Static is an excellent example of a movie that is helped a lot by its ending, which manages to justify all the nonsense that has taken place up until that point (or at least most of it). To tell you the truth, for most of it the movie was pissing me off (even though it’s well executed technically), because I hadn’t seen something so irrational in a long time, and by the end I was downright sad that another competent director had signed up for a stupid script. But fortunately, the ending makes things somehow fall into place, which results in a positive impression. Solid stuff.

Ein atmosphärischer Snack, der irgendwo zwischen The Strangers und Ils schwankt. Aber erwarte keine Brutalität. Abgesehen von der sympathischen Besetzung (Paxton das Kätzchen, Milouš "in meinem Bunker ist mir das Fass geplatzt" Ventimiglia und Sarah Shahi, auf die ich gestern bei Sly's Bullet to the Head gestoßen bin), greift er vor allem durch Spannung den Zuschauer an, die er erfolgreich bis zum Finale steigert. Dort jedoch verliert er wichtige Punkte aufgrund eines wirklich unpassenden Schlusses. Ein untypischer "Home Invasion" Film, das ist wahr.

Static is a good albeit average American horror movie that uses family relationship drama to pull viewers in. In addition, there is a mystery surrounding what is actually going on with the individual characters. The plot development is not exactly straightforward, and in the end, you realize that you enjoyed it even though it is not very well-thought-out.
