Der coole Gangster und Profikiller Chev Chelios ist zurück. Und er hat plötzlich ein Herz, allerdings ein falsches: Triadenganove Johnny Vang hat ihm ein Kunstherz eingepflanzt und will mit Chevs Organ seinem schwächelnden Oberboss zu neuer Lebenskraft verhelfen. Chev will sein Herz zurück und begibt sich auf eine wilde Jagd nach Vang. Dabei verliert er die drahtlose Batterie, die das Kunstherz am Laufen hält. Chev muss sich nun ständig mit Strom versorgen und wagt sogar den tödlichen Griff in die Starkstromleitung... (RTL Nitro)

Neveldine and Taylor may give a different dimension to the concept of "over the top," but they still don't really provide much originality. The aesthetics, tuned to the form of video-game-comic hyperbole, only work occasionally and are mostly drowned in a numbing ballast of copied scenes (from each other), which gets boring after a while - which is paradoxical when taking the frantic pace into consideration. It is better not to think about the fact that what happens in the film is mostly total decadence. Jason is an incredible tough guy and Amy is sexy, while the rest of it amounts to my jaw getting tired from yawning.

The first Crank second time around and so maybe a little lamer in my opinion. It’s missing the initial surprise that Taylor and Neveldine stuffed into something that I thought would be a traditional action movie. High Voltage takes the same concept and drives it to the edge of a cliff. And often beyond that. There’s no shortage of original ideas and even though they are completely twisted, I bet you that you’ve never seen the like anywhere else. P.S.: I’m quite intrigued what your average Linkin Park fan (or groupie) would say to seeing Chester Bennington in a movie like this. I can see their long faces right now. Hee, hee.

Oh mein Gott. Actionfilm / Thriller / Komödie – das soll angeblich das Genre dieses Films sein. Actionszenen habe ich in Crank 2: High Voltage gefunden. Ein Thriller ist es definitiv nicht und gelacht habe ich ungefähr einmal. Der erste Teil ist meiner Meinung nach ein totaler Mist. Als ich diesen Nachschub gesehen habe, habe ich meinen Augen nicht getraut. Es ist im Grunde genommen eine Kopie des ersten Films. Man bekommt nur mehr F-Wörter, mehr Silikonbrüste, mehr Sex und das Herz von Statham (Terminators Halbbruder) braucht kein Adrenalin, sondern Strom. In dem ersten Teil gab es ein Telefon-Finale, hier wirkt das Finale "feurig". Es hat mir gefallen, es ist witzig und peppig. Die 90 Minuten bis dahin sind aber verschwendete Zeit.
