Angie Lowe lebt allein mit ihrem Sohn Johnny auf einer abgelegenen Farm mitten im Apachen-Gebiet. Ihr Mann hat sich längst aus dem Staub gemacht. Such an inconspicuous film, hiding under an inconspicuous title, but it turns out to be a very well-made movie, where a beautiful story is developed in a small setting about the fact that the truth is not always the best and does not have to be shared if it is not necessary. John Wayne is at times overshadowed by Geraldine Page, who was rightfully nominated for an Oscar. The film stands on her character and her believability.

Meh. A dumb story with a bland Wayne, ending with a staggeringly dull (repetitive) sequence with Indians and a caravan of covered wagons that showcases what a terribly unimaginative script Hondo has.
