Friends: The Reunion

What else should you watch when you need to cope with the premature death of Matthew Perry than Friends Reunion Special? Two years ago, it was also a very pleasant and necessary reflection that helped relieve pandemic stress, now it has a slightly different subtext again. Every great show deserves such reflection. A nearly indescribable encounter for nostalgically burdened fans. In the strongest moments, I really felt so good, as if I had gone back twenty years and fallen in love with the series for the first time. Back then I would have sworn to you that there was no better series (and even today, I wouldn't count many better ones among comedies, apart from Scrubs). Some age beautifully, some at least with grace. The years have left their mark on some, but even on a relatively small scale (despite the generous length, I felt like it all lasted maybe half an hour), all six of them hit me right in the heart. I don't want new episodes, I don't want a movie. If I was ever certain that Friends belonged to the turn of the century and paradoxically, thanks to that, will remain a perfectly timeless piece, it was now. (28.08.2021)

Nostalgic memories and the evil of time are the main themes here. Matthew Perry has aged terribly. It would be impossible to shoot another regular episode. It would just be too depressing. But the memories luckily work well. Messed up shots, stories from shooting the series. Only the embarrassment is Corden, who pushed himself into the role of anchor and only proves how far modern "humor" has gone downhill. (29.05.2021)
