Necrotongue

I was very surprised by how well Season 2 turned out. After all, I expected it to go down in quality compared to the first one, but I was wrong. Again, I got excellent atmosphere, the Middle Ages simply radiated from the screen, and action wasn’t scarce. Either I got used to the low budget or it wasn’t as obvious as in the previous season. The story nicely followed up on the previous events, and it wasn’t boring. I was also pleased with the new characters who added even more intrigue to the plot. Most importantly, you could see the honest work behind everything. Not everything has to be filled with CGI. I look forward to the third season in joyful anticipation.

The finale really delivered, which was a relief. I'm tired of shows that build up a solid season only to have it all collapse in the last episode. There were plenty of action scenes to enjoy (even though the final battle felt a bit naive), and there was an unexpected sense of tension. Despite losing one of my favorite characters, I was very satisfied overall.

The episode might not have been the most action-packed, but it was thoroughly enjoyable. I'm curious to see how the creators will use the new character, Osferth. I have a feeling his introduction could lead to an entirely new storyline. Also, I couldn't help but notice a classic case of Stockholm syndrome with Erik, even though he's a Dane.

After the slightly awkward previous episode, we were thankfully treated to a full-fledged one. Plots were hatched, paranoia lingered in the air, and the action scenes were definitely worth watching. There was even a shocking case of domestic violence. The creators got back to what they do best.

Watching the fifth episode left me a bit disoriented. In the middle of an otherwise gripping season, we suddenly got what felt like a strange pilot episode, easing us into events three years after the last. While it wasn't uninteresting, it did throw me off and unnecessarily slowed down the excellent pace the season had been maintaining.

A great episode. The atmosphere was, as always, excellent. Alongside the usual scheming, there was a hefty dose of action this time around. Despite the budget constraints, the battle for the fortress was engaging, and the outcome of Ragnar's encounter with Kjartan and Sven with Thyra was particularly gratifying.

Uhtred's maritime adventure didn't captivate me much, but the events on land more than made up for it. The creators are doing a great job maintaining the right atmosphere, seamlessly transitioning from action to intrigue. Alfred's conclusion was brilliant — what a crafty fox.

I was initially leaning towards four stars since the action was limited to minor skirmishes and Hild fitting perfectly into a Dane's armor seemed a bit too convenient. However, I decided to go with a full five stars because the episode was rich in scheming and intrigue. As expected, the Church leaders showed their love for God is surpassed only by their love for power and money.

The first episode of the new season brought some interesting plot developments. I was entertained the whole time, and the creators deserve four stars for that.

The creators picked up right where the first season left off, but I found myself a bit confused. One moment Alfred and his loyal followers are celebrating their victory, and the next, Hild has somehow grown a full head of hair in just a few days. That was really odd. Nonetheless, the new season's start was solid, and I'm hopeful the creators will keep up the good work.
