Die diesjährige Doku Apollo 11 hat mich – was die Qualität von restaurierten Aufnahmen betrifft – ein bisschen verwöhnt. Das heißt aber nicht, dass ich Apollo: the Forgotten Films nicht genauso genossen habe. Es stimmt, dass die Doku durch und durch klassisch ist. Die Aufnahmen, um die es mir ging, waren herrlich. Außer einigen ausgezeichneten Blicken auf den Mond (und außer den Aufnahmen der unglücklichen Besatzung von Apollo 1 – die haben echt alles aufgenommen!) haben mir vor allem die Szenen gefallen, in denen sich die Astronauten auf der Erde vorbereiten – beim Vulkan auf den Hawaii-Inseln, in der Wüste oder im Urwald. Der Film kehrt aus dem Jahr 1969 schön in die Vergangenheit zurück und rechnet im Unterschied zu Apollo 11 auch mit dem Publikum, das über die Eroberung des Mondes nicht viel weiß, aber gerne mehr wissen möchte.
