Als der amerikanische Tourist Billy Hayes zusammen mit seiner Freundin Susan Urlaub in der Türkei macht, wird er von Zollbeamten dabei erwischt, wie er eine große Menge Haschisch aus dem Lande schmuggeln will. Dafür verhängen türkische Gerichte im Normalfall vier Jahre als Höchststrafe, doch diesmal soll an Billy ein Exempel statuiert werden: Er erhält 30 Jahre Gefängnis. Und nun beginnt für Billy ein höllischer Albtraum, aus dem es nur ein Entrinnen gibt: die Flucht! (Kabel eins classics)
