Paul und Toni (Florian David Fitz, Matthias Schweighöfer) sind beste Freunde, Kollegen - und seit ihrer Kindheit Konkurrenten. Statt um die Aufmerksamkeit von Pauls Eltern (Hannelore Elsner und Wolfgang Stumph) oder die Liebe ihrer Mitschülerin geht es inzwischen um die Anerkennung der Angestellten ihres Start-ups. Dort haben die beiden Konsum-Junkies eine App programmiert, die ihre Nutzer verleiten soll, noch mehr zu kaufen. Als ihnen Internet-Milliardär David Zuckerman vier Millionen Euro für ihren neuesten Coup bietet, gehen Paul und Toni auf der Firmenfeier im Suff die folgenschwere Wette ein, wer länger ohne Besitz auskommt. Sie verfrachten ihr gesamtes Hab und Gut in eine Lagerhalle und dürfen 100 Tage lang nur jeweils eine Sache wieder zurückholen. Die Wette stellt nicht nur ihre Freundschaft auf eine harte Probe, sondern konfrontiert sie auch mit existentiellen Fragen. (Sky Cinema)

Another of those pleasant German comedies from recent years, which are funny just enough to receive average rating. They neither offend you nor take your breath away; you have fun but don’t need to see them again. This particular one, however, has a bonus in the form of an unorthodox view of the consumerist society, which made me add one star to my rating.

Probably the most original comedy of the last few years and surprisingly from the Germans. Two best friends drunkenly bet that they will give up all their possessions for 100 days, with the understanding that they can get one thing back every day. A great premise that makes for a number of comical situations and when you add in the two likeable protagonists you've got a winner. The film manages to mine emotion towards the end as well and I was both pleasantly surprised and pleased with the whole experience. 80%.

I'm a sucker for a film that triggers debate and makes me think. And 100 Things had a lot of potential to spark some passionate debate. I'm quite surprised the film doesn't have a higher rating. Because putting such a good idea – and one borrowed from real life – into a pretty good comedy is a great thing, in my opinion. Sure, the app thing was a bit over the top, but it had to start and end somehow. 4.5 stars

100 Dinge sollte neben der Genrebezeichnung Komödie auch Drama haben, denn obwohl es auf den ersten Blick eine humorvoll präsentierte Erkundung einer Welt voller Konsum und Materialismus ist, behandelt es auch ziemlich ernste Themen wie Konsumismus, Wahrheit x Lüge, Alter x Jugend und verschiedene Beziehungsperipetien, von Familie über Partnerschaft bis hin zur Freundschaft selbst. Abgesehen von der Thematik besticht der Film durch die Besetzung, an der es wirklich nichts auszusetzen gibt: Ich mag Fitz und Schweighöfer, und sie wurden in den Nebenrollen gut unterstützt von Miriam Stein, Hannelore Elsner und (versteckt unter einer Tonne Alten-Make-up) Katharina Thalbach. Die Idee der Handy-App selbst war ebenso phantasievoll wie skurril, und auch wenn der Film gegen Ende ein wenig ins amerikanische Klischee abrutschte, verließ ich den Kinosaal zufrieden. Da das alles schön geschrieben und sympathisch gespielt ist, stört es einen nicht so sehr, dass der Film nicht viel mehr erzählt, als man aus anderen, ähnlich gelagerten Filmen oder schlicht und ergreifend aus seiner Umgebung schon kennt.

The cinematic equivalent of a cashless marketplace, which is most suited to people who have a 'Live, Laugh, Love' sign on their living room wall and the impression that they're living the dream because they can walk around barefoot in their open office. At the end of the film, I threw a molotov at the screen. Kill yourself.

Ich würde meine Schuhe verwetten, dass, wenn ich im März eine Woche in Deutschland verbringe, dass mich von allen Plakaten zu diesem Film die Zahl 99 anstrahlt. Andererseits ist es möglich, dass ich mir etwas herbeifabuliert habe. Ein Sujet mit einer mehr als aktuellen Einbettung in die heutige Zeit, die Umsetzung ist nicht ganz gelungen, da Florian im Drehbuch zu viele Themen angeschnitten hat, von denen er abschließend nicht eines aufgreifen kann. Es ist schwierig, ein Drehbuch zu schreiben, einen Film zu drehen und noch dazu die Hauptrolle zu spielen. Das ist sehr schade, weil der Film verdammt gut anfing. Sei´s drum, wenn ich nicht mit Zahlen fabuliere, so hat der Film in Deutschland bei den Besucherzahlen gepunktet, und das zählt.

Who would have thought? After all those bizarre comedies and even more bizarre porn, the Germans came with a film that was surprisingly enjoyable. To be honest, what I liked best was the opening guide to generations, that was perfect. Although the story gradually became slightly predictable, I still had decent fun watching it. Oh, and Zuckerman:-D

The consumerist way of life will one day completely consume us, so I welcome any attempt to do something about it or at least to draw attention to it. Even though the comedy 100 Things doesn't handle its theme in a particularly impactful or groundbreaking way, I don't have anything against this movie, especially when the story is accompanied by relaxing music. Not to mention that the central duo of Florian David Fitz and Matthias Schweighöfer are likable and very convincing. (70%)
