Tom Clancy's Jack Ryan

A solid political thriller starring the likable John Krasinski. I like the guy more from film to film, but I think he looks better with a beard, here he was a little too slick, but he does an extraordinary job throughout the series and draws full attention to himself. Suleiman, the villain, was also good and I liked the actual war with Islam a lot. Visually it feels more like a film production than a series and for that a big plus. There is not much action and the best shootout comes in the first episode, but I didn't mind it so much, as there are interesting issues being dealt with all the time (e.g. the final episodes with the Ebola), and the tension and pace are nice. I got through the eight episodes in two sittings and I certainly don't regret the time spent. I'll happily watch a second season. 80%. (11.09.2018)

We move from Iraq to Venezuela and it's again very decent and timely. John Krasinski is traditionally excellent and of the new characters, Noomi Rapace and Tom Wlaschiha as a professional hitman (the Man of a Thousand Faces from Game of Thrones) are really good. There is a bit more action than in the first season and the shootouts in the middle of the Venezuelan Jungle in particular are awesome. The storyline is engaging and the series definitely doesn't get boring. The first season, however, is a little bit better. 75% (13.11.2019)

Season 1: Middle East/Islam, Great. Season 2: Venezuela, Great. Season 3. Russia, BORING. Quite a topical subject, but I was hardly entertained. There is woefully little action (almost no fights), nothing to remember. Lots of politicking, betrayals and bullshit, but this isn't Game of Thrones or House of the Dragon, so it didn't work at all for me and I had great difficulty finishing it.The Terminal List with Chris Pratt was like much better in every way (story, action, pacing, militarism).
