A nunsploitation extravaganza starring Anita Ekberg (LA DOLCE VITA) and Warhol favorite Joe Dallesandro; Ekberg plays Sister Gertrude, a man-hating nun whose recent surgery to remove a brain tumor has left her suffering from headaches, paranoia, and a morphine addiction. Unfortunately no one will take her complaints seriously, that is until patients start turning up dead at times corresponding exactly with Gertrude's morphine blackouts. Sister Gertrude is forced to curtail her burgeoning exploration of her sexual freedom and is committed to the psychiatric ward, and everyone, Gertrude included, believes the mystery solved; why then do the murders continue? The hospital turns into an orgy of sex, violence, lesbianism, and necrophilia in this classic of Italian horror cinema. (Verleiher-Text)

Einer der bekannteren Nunsploitation-Filme und sogar eine Sünde auf der berüchtigten "videonasties" -Liste. Diese Teilnahme ist mir ein Rätsel, obwohl der Film nur ein Jahr auf der Liste blieb. The Killer Nun zeichnet sich nicht durch extreme Brutalität aus, seine Kontroverse würde ich eher am Inhalt selbst sehen, der auf einem wahren Ereignis aus dem Jahr 1977 basiert, als Belgien von dem Fall dieser drogensüchtigen und mordenden Nonne erschüttert wurde. In dieser Hinsicht ist es wirklich ziemlich unangenehm anzusehen, dazu noch mit einer gut gespielten Hauptantiheldin, aber heutigen Zuschauern wird es sicherlich als "sanft" oder sogar "langweilig" erscheinen. Trotzdem gebe ich am Ende einen Daumen nach oben.

"Suor Omicidi" is not a great film, but there are moments that are interesting. Anita Ekberg is believable, great, and Paola Morra is beautiful. The story is not stupid, but it tries to captivate the viewer, which is slightly disrupted by uncertain directing work. Some scenes are simply boring. However, the ending is not bad at all, so the overall impression of the film is around average, maybe a little below.
