WolfCop

Es ist keine anständige Sache, aber absichtlich. Angesichts des verrückten Themas fehlt es ihm definitiv an diesem schmutzigen Grindhouse-Look, aber ansonsten würde es wirklich gut in die 70er Jahre passen. Wolfcop müsste nicht so überladen sein mit unnötigem Zeug (wie dieser Kult der Kapuzenträger, und ich würde sicherlich nicht die Wechselbälger dort hineinscheißen, es erinnert etwas an Grimm), auch ohne diese Dinge wäre es immer noch lustig. Es reicht, etwas mehr als eine Stunde lang einem betrunkenen Polizisten zuzusehen, der, wenn er seine komplette Verwandlung (inklusive der Verwandlung des Penisses) zum Polizei-Werwolf vollzieht, sein Auto aufmotzt, die Straßen von Verbrechen säubert und nur so nebenbei auch noch Rotkäppchen erledigt. "WolfCop" was a very pleasant surprise for me, which simply must be appreciated. When a film entertains you, it doesn't matter what genre it is. And I was entertained by this film. Those masks are just fantastic. At the end of the film, it was mentioned that a sequel awaits us in 2015. As it turns out, it won't be possible, but they are working on it. And I am quite curious about the second installment. I simply won't miss a similar B-movie. (27.10.2015)

WolfCop makes an average impression as a horror comedy, but it still has drive and doesn't shy away from the dark humour that is appropriate for such a film. The main character, Lou, is an unreliable jerk, alcoholic and troublemaker all rolled into one, something that doesn't really change even after his transformation into a werewolf, except perhaps for his more bloodthirsty behavior, so he doesn't take any shit from the criminals in the small town where he lives. Overall, the film had a hardened and raw effect on me, which was underscored by the choice of grittier music. An unconventional genre hybrid with pros and cons that balance out in the end - hence the pure average. (26.01.2016)

The idea would be fitting for the early 1980s, but given the trend in Grindhouse of the last two decades, it’s also acceptable for more ambitious B-movie waters. The execution of the story, however, is pretty terrible – there are a few decently edited scenes, the make-up effects and the gore are alright, and there are a couple of very good ideas (the transformation into a werewolf is pretty funny, likewise the sex scene with the beautiful red riding hood), but the promising concept is killed by a pointless twist and the ending is just boring and bland. At least Sarah Lind is a candidate for the sexiest bartender in film history (though in her case it was a little different). 35% (17.10.2019)
