Die Gruppe errichtet ihr Lager nahe den Grundmauern des Hauses, das Rustin Parr gehörte, einem Einsiedler, der für die Morde an sieben Kindern gehängt wurde. Sein Verbrechen trug das Zeichen der Hexe von Blair. Am Morgen nach ihrer ersten Nacht erwachen die Camper ohne Erinnerung, sich überhaupt schlafen gelegt zu haben. In ihrem Gedächtnis fehlen die letzten fünf Stunden der Nacht. Das ist der Auftakt zu einem brutalen Crescendo des Schreckens, in dem sich Legende und Realität auf ebenso bestürzende wie blutrünstige Weise miteinander verstricken. Die Expeditionsteilnehmer wissen nicht mehr, was Wirklichkeit und was Einbildung ist. Sie beginnen immer stärker an ihrem Verstand zu zweifeln und steigern sich langsam in eine Massenhysterie hinein. The concept of a genius number one is gone, and a group of anonymous teenagers are heading to the Maryland woods to experience the local atmosphere. Although the film can be thematically interchangeable with any unsuccessful horror nonsense, it earns valuable points precisely because it is not so much a straightforward sequel as a partial homage to the first part. I have such a deep-rooted memory of that one that when the characters start talking about being in the exact places they know from the movie, it works for me. However, it would require a point at the end and not just timidly wink and try to impress. The mythology of the Blair Witch managed to connect well. 50%

This is one of those horrors that is not worth seeing, because their effort is only to make money on people who liked the first movie or maybe even believed in it. But this is definitely not the way to build a myth. It's like the script wasn't really cared about, all the foolishness just piled up and resulted in something that cannot even be considered a meaningful piece. This is not myth-building, this is just empty commerce.
