8-Pallo

Filmchallenge 2018 - Finnland. Ein weiterer ordentlicher Brocken des finnischen Filmgottes Aku Louhimies. In Tschechien ist es kühler geworden, und ich fuhr auf Dienstreise nach Helsinki, wo die Temperaturen noch weiter unter Null liegen, überall Schnee und Eis. Und ich Verrückter habe mir noch das kälteste Hotel in der Stadt gebucht, denn früher diente das Gebäude als Gefängnis. Was anderes hätte man sich anschauen sollen als einen finnischen depressiven Film, damit alles die richtige Symbolik hat. Ich fühlte mich nicht eine einzige Minute lang gut, Jessica Grabowsky ist sehr hübsch, und umso mehr ergriff es mich, wie sie ihr Leben zerstört, sie spielt wie vom Blatt. Eero Aho hatte mich schon in Tears of April - Die Unbeugsame fasziniert, er enttäuschte wiederum nicht und spielt brillant abstoßend. Die einzige Figur, die ich nicht mochte, war der weinende, ungeschickte Polizist, ich denke, dass ich diese Figur kühn als überflüssig bezeichnen kann. Ein starkes Erlebnis - wohl schon das dritte Sozialdrama in Folge, im Interesse der Wahrung der geistigen Integrität muss ich mich einem leichteren Genre widmen. (05.03.2018)

I have to admit that I haven’t seen a properly depressing Scandinavian film for a long time, so 8-Ball made me quite happy in this respect. Somehow I knew what I was going into, but while I was lounging comfortably on my couch at the beginning of the film, the depression and stress flowing through my body kept me on edge from the middle of the film, so I had to sit up for it. What looked relatively innocent at first turned out into a quite brutal ride. And I have to admit that some scenes were really hardcore. Had it not been for the ending, I’d probably give it four stars. However, the ending showed what happens when you put together Finnish depression with brutal Finnish winter weather and a detective like from French crime movies from the 1970s. (08.10.2015)
