Es ist 1981 und die Mädchen einer Studentenverbindung haben eine Willkommensparty für die neuen Studentinnen. Doch jede ihrer Bewegungen wird von einem Unbekannten beobachtet. Als die ersten Mädchen verschwinden, ahnen die anderen noch nicht, dass sie brutal abgeschlachtet wurden. Die Polizei suchtverzweifelt eine Spur, doch der Killer hat seine nächsten Opfer schon ausgesucht. Ein Rennen gegen die Zeit beginnt. (Tiberius Film)

Ziemlich unterhaltsam retro, aber vor allem ein Abklatsch der Slasherfilme aus den 70ern. Besonders "Black Christmas" stinkt schon Meilen gegen den Wind: eine Mädchenclique, anzügliche Telefongespräche und ein mordender Wahnsinniger. Die Anzahl der Toten ist ziemlich hoch (12 Tote), aber die Spannung hielt sich versteckt, um nur in den letzten fünfzehn Minuten leicht hervorzuscheinen. Das Gore war auch nicht besonders gelungen, zumindest die Warzen waren da. Die einzige Memorable-Szene für mich bleibt der "Travolta-artige Tanz" in der Diskothek, das war wirklich höllisch.

The Sleeper is a rip-off of the cheap slasher movies of the turn of the 70s and 80s (like Black Christmas) and it looks like a rip-off of the cheap slasher movies of the turn of the 70s and 80s. In other words, this means that despite all efforts, it doesn’t fully feel like a cheap slasher movie of the turn of the 70s and 80s (which, for instance, Ti West managed to do in the sub-genre of occult horror with The House of the Devil). I hope that the difference is clear :-) Otherwise the actors aren’t good, there’s little gore and few murders (and the killer only hits them with a hammer and that’s it), and the killer looks fairly unsettling. About two thirds of the film pissed me off, but I have to say that the last fifteen minutes are really good – if the whole film had that atmosphere, I would have been very satisfied.
