The year 2017 will literally go down in history in the action genre because, already at the beginning of the year, we have the best action movie from the US in the last 10 Years (John Wick 2), the best Comic Book movie (Logan), and now the most brutal movie not just from Asia in the last maybe 10 years (Headshot). What about Boyka? Anyway, what Tjahjanto and Stamboel are doing is literally a miracle. A hell of a lot value for money. From the beginning the film picks up an incredible action inferno that doesn't let up until the end, there’s no unnecessary bullshit, it goes non-stop! This really is one of the most brutal films of recent times, a very sick, sleazy and dirty flick that is not pleasant to watch in places. I shed a few tears, sweated like after ten hours of sex and screamed through the whole house wondering if the walls would crack. Iko Uwais gets a good beating for perhaps the first time, so much so that he has to use a shotgun, a knife and a machete at times to take out his opponents, because every single one of his opponents knows at least three kinds of martial arts and they don't play fair. There is perhaps not a single 1 vs 10 fight, everything is 1v1, which is definitely a positive. Anyway, the first clean fight without weapons only appears in the finale, which again takes your breath away in a 5 minute fight with the main mafia that definitely deserves a position in the TOP 5 fights of all time (but the finale The Raid 2 is obviously not surpassed). One of those action movies that doesn't just grab the action fan by the balls, but rips them right off and eats them! Nerds, Steven Seagal fans, non Asia fans and 90's B-movie enthusiasts please back off. You don't even deserve to see this. Everyone else is welcome. Oh, and Julie Estelle is probably the sexiest woman who can wield a knife. 100% (04.03.2017)

Gleiches gilt für die vorherigen Killers. Die Aktion ist gut gefilmt und es wird nicht an Brutalität gespart, sodass das Blut geradezu über den Bildschirm spritzt. Aber was ist, wenn die schamlose Demenz, die diese Rohheit und Ernsthaftigkeit niederschlägt, genauso auffällig ist? Ein großartiges Beispiel ist gleich zu Beginn des Films, in dem eine bewaffnete Gruppe von Gefangenen nur wenige Meter von einer ebenfalls bewaffneten Gruppe von Polizisten entfernt steht und sinnlos darauf wartet, wer von ihnen als Erster schießt, um sich dann sofort in menschliche Siebe zu verwandeln. Und leider gibt es noch viel, viel mehr solcher Unsinnigkeiten. Dazu sollte man natürlich nicht die für die Schöpfer bereits typische übertriebene Sinnlichkeit vergessen, dank der Headshot eigentlich nie richtig in Fahrt kommt: Nach einem fünfminütigen Kampf kommt mit 100%iger Sicherheit gleich eine Heulszene, was am Ende einfach ermüdend ist. Also, wenn ich euch einen Rat geben kann, meine gelben Freunde, lasst das nächste Mal die Darstellung von Emotionen weg und widmet euch nur dem, was euch am besten liegt - Action! (11.03.2017)

When two people do the same thing, it's not always the same. Characters lacking depth, a script without substance and the imaginative action scenes of Gareth Evans have been replaced by brutality and mechanics. Headshot is not a downright bad film, but other than the superbly executed action, it has nothing else. The Raid is miles ahead, and even The Night Comes for Us, which is relatively close to Headshot, is at least a head better because it had a better plot, neon lights, and more coherent visuals with a more elaborate and uncharacteristically stylized carnage. Headshot comes out as the least attractive of this trio, but it’s still decent craftsmanship. As a showcase of fights, it’s fine. (01.07.2020)

Indonesia has its action star, and Iko Uwais shows that he can handle any film that is written specifically for him. He is good not only in action sequences but also in those where he has to demonstrate a bit more of his acting skills. The film "Zásah" is very bourne-esque, but still has its own style and great action scenes. (26.07.2017)
