Jack (Philip Seymour Hoffman) ist ein liebenswerter Kerl um die 40, der sich in New York als Limousinen-Fahrer durchschlägt Er führt ein ruhiges Leben, mit Frauen hat er keinerlei Erfahrung und seine größte Leidenschaft gilt dem Reggae, wie man schon an seinen Dreadlocks sieht. Doch Jacks bester Freund Clyde (John Ortiz) und dessen Frau Lucy (Daphne Rubin-Vega) bringen Bewegung in sein Leben. Sie wollen Jack mit Lucys Kollegin Connie verkuppeln, und die beiden kommen sich nach einem ersten Treffen tatsächlich näher. The movie Jack Goes Boating is based on the acting performances, which is, unfortunately, a pity because that's really the main focus, more important than the story itself, which revolves around four people, none of whom have it particularly easy in life because they don't really know how they should live. The actors here are simply good. And only them, I might add.
