Nachdem Woodbury am Ende der 3. Staffel gestürmt wurde und Rick (Andrew Lincoln) die Überlebenden im Gefängnis aufgenommen hat, sieht es so aus, als würde langsam wieder ein Stück Normalität in den Alltag und das Leben kehren. Doch der Schein trügt. Ein unbekannter Virus schürt Panik, Konflikte und Geheimnisse innerhalb der Gruppe. Und auch der Governor (David Morrissey) wartet nicht lange auf seine Revanche. Das Gefängnis wird durch seinen überraschenden Anschlag gestürmt und zerstört - und die gesamte Gruppe zerschlägt sich unfreiwillig in viele kleine Einzelteile. Wer wird am Ende überleben? Wird es einen neuen Ort der Zuflucht geben? (entertainment One)

Despite some major flaws in the second half, Season 4 was much better than Season 2, with more action and plot development and less aimless philosophizing. The second half, unfortunately, featured many pointless attempts at psychological analyses of the characters, the story was stalling, and the episodes served no other purpose than to artificially stretch out the plot. It was a shame given the decent episodes 1-8.

We should appreciate the prosthetics and makeup used in the fourth season of The Walking Dead. Sure, if CGI is used, it is noticeable because it is not that perfect. However, some scenes really worked and benefitted from the practical effects of prosthetics and masks, which is nothing new in the zombie genre, nothing too groundbreaking in terms of characters, although it is still good in filmmaking techniques.
