Tyrion Lennister übernimmt neue Aufgaben, über die er wenig begeistert ist. Jon Schnee wird zur „Faust des ersten Menschen" gebracht, und Jaime Lennister bewahrt Brienne von Tarth vor einer Vergewaltigung. In Königsmund beruft Tywin Lennister eine Sitzung ein und überträgt seinem Sohn Tyrion Lennister eine neue Verantwortung als Schatzmeister, was Tyrion gar nicht gefällt. Jon Schnee wird von den Wildlingen inzwischen zu dem gewaltigen Berg „Die Faust der ersten Menschen" gebracht. Daenerys Targaryen trifft sich in Astapor mit den Sklavenhändlern, um mit ihnen einen Handel abzuschließen. Unterdessen trifft auch der gefangene Jaime Lennister mit seinen Entführern eine Abmachung. Again, a bit of a road trip episode, but still, some of the plot premises are already crystallizing and the third season is moving forward. Unfortunately there are few scenes from the capital, where things are fun, with lots of interesting characters, and a lot of nothing much to say wandering through the woods, but thumbs up for the shocking finale. After the the Starks from the first episode, the biggest surprise so far.

I perceive the third episode as the most successful episode of the third season so far. Edmure Tully's stomach cleaning was entertaining, moving the furniture for the Small Council meeting and Podrick's unexpected success amused me greatly, and furthermore, events in Astapor and beyond the Wall were set in motion. The story had a decent atmosphere and an excellent conclusion this time, so I was finally satisfied.
