Man nennt ihn daher auch gern Godfather of Gore. (Verleiher-Text)

Necrotongue booo!

Englisch A comedy/horror mingle-mangle which desperately tries to be funny (and fails at it). There’s no way this can be called a horror film. I consider Sasha Gray to be a very talented porn actress (with emphasis on the word porn). In this "masterpiece" she was convincing only in scenes where she was wiping some sludge off her face. By that I mean that I'll gladly see her in a film where she can show off her amazing absence of a gag reflex, but she should avoid regular acting just like Lee Demarbre and Ian Driscoll should steer clear of filmmaking. Englisch Herschell Gordon Lewis actually appears in the film, so it is immediately apparent who the film is intended for. But I don't think even Herschell's fans will appreciate that someone is copying him and not adding anything extra to the film. It's a shame that with some interesting horror actors from the past, they didn't manage to create something that could truly be a tribute to old B-movie horror. ()

J*A*S*M booo!

Englisch The only comment I had to explain the Boo! rating was a joke about my brain cells wanting to commit suicide while I watched Smash Cut, but now that I see the relatively positive reviews, I have to say something else. Sometimes I notice that when a new piece of shit (pardon my French) features a famous actor from old cult or forgotten horror films, the fans jump up in joy because it’s a “great homage”, a “B-movie like from the 80s”, “maximum guilty pleasure”, etc. But the reason most of those films are bullshit is that, well, they are bullshit, and the people involved don’t have and never had any talent, and if they ever had any, they lost it. Making this type of retro-crap makes no sense, they made plenty of it in the past already, and “paying homage” doesn’t have to mean (and does not mean) copying everything from the original, including its cheapness, trashiness and silliness.
