Stepfather

This was quite a nice surprise, not because of the plot, which is very classic and predictable (basically, it’s what would come out if you asked anyone to write the most clichéd thriller about a guy who creeps into families and murders them), but because of the competent direction and casting. A second viewing is pointless, but it’s really worth watching it once, I’d say. PS: The way the opening credits scene is conceived gives you hope that you’ll watch something more interesting than what you get in the end. (10.01.2010)

I'm quite pleasantly surprised by the excellent thriller atmosphere, which made the film fun to watch. The plot may not be anything new, but at least it's not unnecessarily drawn out and boring. And even though everyone probably knows what's going on from the very beginning, I was eager to see how it would turn out. The ending wasn't bad either. The cast isn’t overused and in most cases was well chosen. Penn Badgley in particular was a good fit for me. A better average... 3.5 stars. (05.12.2011)

Den Originalfilm habe ich nicht gesehen und hatte keine Ahnung, dass es sich um ein Remake handelt. Mir wurde ein solider Thriller geboten, der alle Kriterien erfüllt, Logik/Unlogik, ausreichend Spannung und ein paar schwache Schreckmomente. Und es ist lustig, Penn Badgley und Amber Heard zehn Jahre jünger zu sehen. (11.09.2023)
