Kurz vor Ende des Zweiten Weltkriegs schaffen es die Nazis mit Hilfe von riesigen Ufos, sogenannten Reichsflugscheiben, die dunkle Seite des Mondes zu besiedeln. Als sie im Jahr 2018 zufällig von einer amerikanischen Mondmission entdeckt werden, sehen sie ihre Zeit gekommen, um wieder nach der Weltherrschaft zu greifen. Von nun an lastet das Schicksal der Menschheit auf den Schultern von Renate Richter (Julia Dietze), einer von der Nazi-Ideologie überzeugten Lehrerin mit Gretchenfrisur. Auf der Erde angekommen wird ihr jedoch schnell bewusst, dass sie ihr Leben lang einer Lüge aufgesessen ist. Nur wie soll es ihr gelingen, ihren machtbesessenen Verlobten Klaus Adler (Götz Otto) und dessen Götterdämmerung aufzuhalten? (polyband Medien)

Fortunately, this time I avoided all the hype, so I can’t be very disappointed. Iron Sky is a nice fun thing, no more than that. It works surprisingly well as direct-to-video sci-fi B-movie silliness, but, if behind the B-movie gimmick of Nazis in the moon, the creators wanted to hide a serious and ambitious political satire, well, we can’t say it was a success. There are some signs, yes, but the satire feels more like a middle-school reflection on “world politics and its afflictions” – eager, but at the same time too simplistic and superficial. As a parody, Iron Sky fails mainly because it’s hardly funny (do not confuse fun with funny). Thumbs up, but only reluctantly.

A trashy subject, a few film references, and a critical assessment of the current political situation do not make a good film - unless you go in with a fearless desire to step "over the edge" a few times. The idea gets full marks, but the execution is lacking, and many things are paradoxically saved by the very decent technical aspects.

Unglaublich verrückt, dumm, aber wirklich unterhaltsam B-Movie. Allein das Thema einer Nazi-Basis auf der dunklen Seite des Mondes ist ziemlich gewagt. Der Fantasie sind keine Grenzen gesetzt, und so wird in vielen Fällen die Grenze des Absurden und Verrückten erreicht. Eine Druckkammer zieht sexy Lehrerinnen aus, ein Schwarzer wird zu einem Blondinenhaarschnitt umgestaltet, das I-Phone gilt auf einer veralteten deutschen Basis als Computer der Zukunft, ein Raumschiff landet auf einem Marihuana-Feld, Nazi-Soldaten durchblättern Playboy-Seiten und kommentieren rasierte Muschis usw. Wenn man dazu noch eine Menge Sprüche ("Der muss den kleinsten Schwanz im Weltraum haben.") und gelungene Effekte (die Schiffe sind sogar super, es gibt Probleme mit der Zerstörung) hinzufügt, bin ich definitiv zufrieden.

Ein angenehmes Häppchen. Für mich besser als all die Vaterlands, Salons Kitty und Inglourious Basterds. Und mein Liebling Götz Otto aus solchen Kassenschlagern wie Marlene (2000) oder Das Mädchen deiner Träume (1998).

It would need more wit and satire that wasn't so explicit and simple, but hats off for the idea and the way the filmmakers played not only with the effects, but especially with the design of all those Nazi flying saucers and space airships.

A parody of sci-fi that has everything! A caricature of Nazis, a caricature of funny homeless people from Armageddon or The Day After Tomorrow, a caricature of moral and heroic American Presidents or wise Secretaries of State.... And they are all perfect! It has its flaws in the cheapness of some of the special effects or the editing, but a story this insanely entertaining, beautifully affecting the ambivalence of today's political world, for which alien Nazis are far less of a threat than its own ego and power, doesn't deserve to be devalued because of it. Moreover, the visuals look really expensive in most cases, the final action set piece has momentum and even a slightly dramatic effect, and the two heroes are excellent, one with his surprisingly tolerable black wit and the other with his endless charm and cuteness (Julia Dietze deserves to break through in Hollywood). Only Adolf Hitler was missing, there aren’t enough caricatures of him.

Iron Sky ist unglaublich bizarr und von gigantischen Ausmaßen, bei dem ich jede Bewertung nachvollziehen kann. Für mich selbst muss ich allerdings sagen, dass ich von diesem unglaublichen Quatsch nicht besonders beeindruckt war. Ich hatte ehrlich gesagt erwartet, dass ich mich auf Kosten des schwarzen Humors (in diesem Fall muss man mit dem Wort "schwarz" vorsichtig sein) königlich amüsieren würde, aber die meisten Witze und Anspielungen gingen mir ziemlich am Allerwertesten vorbei, obwohl es viele davon gab. Aus visueller Sicht ist es nicht das schlechteste Stück, obwohl es einige Reserven gibt - die Explosionen und Feuersimulation waren nicht sehr gut. Eine (un)wirklicher Quatsch hoch x!
