Als Reporterin des Chicago Sentinel reist Lauren Adrian in die sogenannten Bordertowns, Städte an der amerikanisch-mexikanischen Grenze, in denen Massenware für den US-Markt hergestellt wird. Lauren will eine Mordserie an jungen Fabrikarbeiterinnen aufdecken, die offenbar vertuscht werden soll. Aber neben dem Elend der Frauen findet Lauren nur eine Mauer des Schweigens und wird bald selbst zur Zielscheibe. (Kabel eins classics)

As expected, a boring moral agitprop that suffers from a lack of drive, absence of strong characters, and rather unremarkable actors. The several moments full of violence can’t save the overall miserable impression. Even the digital camera is not the right fit for the Mexican landscape. The effort is appreciated, but please do better next time.

I have minor reservations, but I still have to admit that Gregory Nava has made a good film based on true events. What is particularly appreciated is the unembellished and very realistic feel of the whole film, which perhaps cannot make anyone feel good. (70%)
