Die Computerexpertin Angela Bennett hütet einen gefährlichen Schatz eine Diskette mit hochbrisanten Geheimunterlagen einer regierungsfeindlichen Hacker-Bande. Informationen, die die wichtigsten Datennetze weltweit verseuchen könnten. Ein Killer wird auf Angela angesetzt Jack Devlin - schnell, gerissen, gemeingefährlich. Einem Mordanschlag entgeht sie knapp, doch Devlin rächt sich brutal: er löscht Angelas Daten aus allen staatlichen Computern, tilgt ihre Identität und aus Angela Bennett wird Ruth Marx, eine gesuchte Prostituierte! Interesting in places, ridiculous in others, and the classic problem: a totally mishandled ending. Sandra Bullock can't act, she has the same expression throughout the film, and her climactic and oft-repeated acting feat is tucking her hair behind her ears. It’s a weak film, but it doesn’t piss you off, so two stars.

Ein naiver Thriller über die bösartige Macht von Computern und Cyber-Terroristen... Die Idee ist interessant, aber technisch nicht gut durchdacht... Nicht viel besser ist auch die Handlung, die zwar stellenweise recht spannend, aber im Grunde genommen recht lesbar und uneinheitlich ist. Technische Leistung - durchschnittlich bis unterdurchschnittlich. Den dritten Stern verdiente sich Das Netz Sandra Bullock... die schlicht und einfach hinreißend ist. Das nenne ich ein Argument, Freunde...

Sandra Bullock and her computer escapades, that's the only thing this movie has going for it, and that's unfortunately a big mistake. Bullock is unconvincing and simply not a good actress (or at least not here), and the computer issue itself is handled in a ridiculously stupid way. Not are many of operations performed practically impossible (how can she start a fire prevention system in a state-of-the-art skyscraper with just a few clicks? How can she send an email to the FBI headquarters at a computer exhibition?), but the way they are performed is very hard to believe. The only explanation I see is that at the time of its creation, computer technology was not nearly as widespread in households, so they could somehow deceive the audience. Unfortunately, that doesn't work today.
