1836 - Aufstand der amerikanischen Texaner gegen ihre mexikanische Obrigkeit. Der mexikanische General Santa Anna zieht mit 7000 Mann gegen den texanischen General Sam Houston. William Travis und Jim Bowie befestigen die Missionsstation Alamo in San Antonio de Bexar, um Santa Anna aufzuhalten und Houston Zeit zur Mobilisierung seiner Truppen zu geben. Sie erhalten Verstärkung durch Freiwillige unter Davy Crockett und James Bonham. Von insgesamt 187 Mann wird das Alamo vom 23. Februar bis zum 6. März 1836 gehalten. John Wayne was not only a great actor who forever became the embodiment of principled and honorable men, but he also dabbled in other professions. The role of a producer almost seems obvious, but he also sat in the director's chair. "Alamo" was his first and actually only film where he was credited as the sole director. It's not surprising. It can essentially be said that it is Duke's opus magnum, a work he had been preparing for his whole life. Not to showcase how great of an actor he was, but primarily to showcase how aware he was of the strength of his nation, how much he recognized the need for those honorable and brave men.
