Charles (Jack Whitehall) ist ein Frauenheld, der heimlich einen exakt nach ihm nachgebildeten Roboter benutzt, um Frauen zu umwerben, während er Videospiele spielt und später die Früchte erntet. Eines Tages trifft er Elaine (Shailene Woodley) auf einer Eislaufbahn und ist hin und weg. Er setzt seinen Roboter 'C2' ein, um sie für sich zu gewinnen. Dabei ahnt er nicht, dass Elaine ihre eigene Roboterkopie 'E2' hat, die für sie reiche Männer verführt, sodass sie Geschenke einsammeln kann. Zum Pech der beiden Betrüger treffen sich ihre Roboter, verlieben sich ineinander und fliehen an die mexikanische Grenze, um ein Leben in Freiheit zu führen. Elaine und Charles müssen sich zusammentun und sie aufhalten, bevor ihre Geheimnisse ans Licht kommen. (Leonine)

When I come across a movie tagged with Comedy/Romance/Sci-Fi with a rating just above the halfway mark, I typically don't set my expectations too high. And good thing I didn't in this case. Yet, surprisingly, I found myself rather enjoying it. While it was no masterpiece, it served as a relaxing watch. I won't claim it had me on the edge of my seat, but the creators did manage to coax more than a few smiles from me, putting me in a good mood. Not to mention that the Americans finally built a functional wall and the Mexicans found their promised land – so there was something in it for everyone, except for the occasional problem with power outage. Sure, it bordered on absurdity, but it kept me entertained without any preachy political correctness shoved in my face. So, after this somewhat unconventional ride, I settled on a four-star rating (albeit on the weaker side). / Lesson learned: Never use non-functioning wood when starting a fire. 4*-
