June 1940. Odile flees Paris with her two children. Lost in the countryside, they are rescued by a feral youth who leads them to an abandoned house. Obwohl André Téchiné ein Drama aus dem Zweiten Weltkrieg gedreht hat, handelt es sich im Grunde um ein Kammerspiel einer Mutter mit zwei Kindern und eines geheimnisvollen jungen Mannes. Der Regisseur hat die zwei Hauptdarsteller, auf denen der Film fußt, gut gewählt, das französische Supertalent Gaspard Ulliel und eine der anerkanntesten Schauspielerinnen, Emanuelle Béart, die erneut einer Zusammenarbeit mit André Téchiné zugestimmt hat. Das Ergebnis sind ganz sicher nicht unnütz verbrachte neunzig Minuten.
