Der legendäre Superheld (Tobey Maguire) trifft auf seinen neuen Gegenspieler den ebenso genialen wie teuflischen Doc Ock (Alfred Molina), der mit vier mächtigen Tentakeln ausgestattet ist. Mary Jane (Kirsten Dunst) hat mittlerweile eine Karriere als Schauspielerin begonnen und einen neuen Mann an ihrer Seite. Sehr zum Missfallen von Peter, der immer noch gegen den ständigen Impuls ankämpfen muss, sein Doppelleben aufzugeben und Mary Jane endlich seine Liebe zu gestehen. Doch damit nicht genug Auch Peters Verhältnis zu seinem besten Freund Harry Osborn (James Franco) wird überschattet durch dessen abgrundtiefen Hass auf Spider-Man, den er für den Tod seines Vaters verantwortlich macht. Von allen Dingen gibt es hier mehr als in Spider-Man. Der Schuft ist besser, die technische Seite ist ausgefeilter und der allgegenwärtige Humor ist eine schöne Erfrischung. In dem Film gibt es nicht so viele Actionszenen, dafür aber viele Dialoge, die in die Vergangenheit zurückkehren (das verlangsamt die Handlung). Trotzdem war ich zufriedener als nach dem ersten Teil. Das 110-prozentige Happyend ist eine Entscheidung, die ein bisschen falsch ist. Die vielen Emotionen rechtfertigen aber alles.

Much better after a second screening. The things that bothered me before – the pathos taken to the extreme in places and the auntie's curmudgeonly proclamations – simply belong to the Spider-Man franchise, and if you accept Raimi's rules of the game, you'll be satisfied. What I admire most about Raimi's series is the perfect blend of Spider-man's human side – constant doubt, regret, unhappy love and, thanks to Tobey's looks, boyish goofiness – and the comic book superhuman side. Moreover, the unconventional beauty of Kirsten Dunst and the charisma of Tobey Maguire are always impressive. And Dr. Octopus is one hell of a villain, Alfred Molina gave him the necessary evil spark with his maniacal expression. With the passage of a few years, I have to admit that this is one of the most accomplished comic book adaptations.

Neben der Filmreihe X-Men war es der zweite Spider-Man, den ich von allen Mainstream-Comicverfilmungen am publikumswirksamsten fand. Sam Raimi hat es geschafft, die Balance zwischen humorvoller Übertreibung, einer passablen Liebesgeschichte und einer Action-Ebene mit einem sehr anständigen und zackigen Bösewicht zu halten. So bietet der Film einen sehr sympathischen Cocktail aus Adrenalinpassagen (der Kampf im Zug ist großartig), humorvollen Momenten und intimen Einblicken in die Seele eines Helden, der vielleicht gar kein Held sein will. Es ist Peters Schwanken zwischen introvertiertem Schüler und furchtlosem Supermann, seine ständige Suche nach sich selbst, die unter dem bombastischen Spektakel für einen sympathischen zweiten Plan sorgt. Das Verhältnis bleibt ausgewogen, und fast bis zum Schluss ist Spider-Man 2 ein außergewöhnlich ausgewogenes und fesselndes Spektakel, das nur sporadisch durch Tante Mays allzu pathetisches Geschimpfe gestört wird. Das "fast" im vorigen Satz ist leider heikel. Der Schluss des Films sprengt krampfhaft und zielstrebig alles, was er zuvor sorgfältig Stein für Stein aufgebaut hat, und das Spektakel erdrückt den interessanten zweiten Plan. Am Ende steht der Held nicht vor dem Dilemma, was er wählen soll, denn er kann beides haben - Liebe und Heldentum. Oh, wie ich diese Heuchelei hasse. Dennoch hat Raimis Spider-Man bei mir viele positive Eindrücke hinterlassen. Ein großartiges Beispiel für Mainstream-Handwerk, das die Fallstricke des Mainstreams lange Zeit vermeidet, aber sich fünf Minuten vor zwölf doch noch verheddert...

Alfred Molina übernahm den gesamten Film, und alle anderen waren einverstanden, ihm zu sekundieren. Die Nachbarin Mary Jane durchlief eine optische Veränderung und eine berufliche Krise. Armes kleines Ding. Aber ihr Erfolg in Ernst sein ist alles ist perfekt.

The second Spider-Man is a class better than the first one. It is darker, with a stronger story, and better music that adds a massive boost to the action scenes. I mean both the rock, nu-metal, and punk (the classic American soundtrack blend) as well as the excellent orchestral score by the always great Danny Elfman (Planet of the Apes, Big Fish), whose compositions are again a pleasure to listen to. The special effects belong to the absolute top of modern cinema. There is some of the traditional pathos and tears, but that belongs to Raimi's Spider-Man, or rather, we have all gotten used to it.

Von Raimis Spider-Man war ich einst so enttäuscht, dass ich beschlossen habe, die Fortsetzung zu ignorieren. Heute habe ich festgestellt, dass der zweite Teil besser ist. Auch wenn nur ein bisschen. Zum Glück kam Sam Raimi wenigstens ein bisschen von seinem spezifischen Stil ab. Das hat seine treuen Fans wahrscheinlich verärgert, aber Spider-Man 2 hat es gut getan. Vor allem die Actionszenen sind diesmal großartig und die Tricks wirken realistischer. Dr. Octopus, gespielt von Alfredo Molina, ist ein viel besserer Schuft als der Grüne Kobold. Und Humor gibt es auch… Es ist also kein schlechter Film, auch wenn ich mich nach ein paar Stunden an fast nichts mehr erinnern kann, außer an die bereits erwähnten Actionszenen. Mit einem anderen Schauspieler in der Hauptrolle oder wenn Tobey Maguire seine Maske gar nicht abgenommen hätte, wäre er noch besser gewesen.

Molina's supervillain is very much the lead here, pulling this sequel above the level of the first instalment in the form of a whiny Willem Dafoe hiding behind an ugly mask. Otherwise, Sam Raimi shows once again that he’s an excellent director with a story that is well put together, mixing humour with action in the best possible way. He also plays his cards right with the always likeable Maguire, the beautiful Kirsten Dunst and the mandatory great visual effects, thanks to which, especially in the spectacular ending, I didn't know where to turn my eyes. A beautiful example of a sequel that surpasses the first part, if only by a little.

The movie that I was looking forward to seeing in the cinema ten years ago. It definitely didn't disappoint me and I fondly remember this trilogy in general, but it's true that even though it was a big hit back then, it has lost a bit of its appeal over the past ten years. It's a classic blockbuster that now looks best on TV. The first installment left a bit more of an impression on me, despite the fact that I generally really like Spider-Man and Doc Ock looks simply amazing.

The sequel to the story of Spider-Man surpassed its predecessor in many ways (especially in the technical aspects), equally great part. While I hesitated to give the first one a full rating and still ended up giving it 4 stars that were more like 4.5 stars (we'll see :), I have no problem with the second one. The main role here is played by Sam Raimi, who directed the sequel to his favorite comic book superhero perfectly and didn't allow any major gaffes that would have disturbed the brilliantly filmed story full of action, love, suspense, revenge, the desire for success... Raimi handles the alternating of the storylines with flying colors and I'm really looking forward to the third one, I've never seen the whole thing.) I'm just a bit worried about the reviews of "three" here, but we'll see.) Spider-Man 2 is definitely 5 stars, and a lot of the credit goes to Danny Elfman, as well as the greater space for character psychology.
