Senior Year

Senior Year als nicht-fantastische Version von Filmen wie Big oder 30 über Nacht hat ein sympathisches, wenn auch fades Thema, über das man hinwegsehen könnte, aber der Streifen scheitert an einem schwachen Drehbuch. Der humoristische Aspekt des Films hat mir überhaupt nicht gefallen, und das ist ein Problem bei Komödien. Der Film behandelt auch ernstere Themen (LGBT, Zukunftstraum x bittere Realität), aber diese werden durch die eher langweilige Verarbeitung verdeckt. Der Auftritt von Alicia Silverstone hat mir gut gefallen, während ich bei Rebel Wilson gemischte Gefühle hatte. Ich lobe auch den Soundtrack, auch wenn er eigentlich eine Wiederverwertung von "Oldies" war. Bessere zwei Sterne! (13.08.2022)

Ein weiterer amerikanischer Scheiß von Netflix, bei dem Quoten alles noch schlimmer machen, so dass man den Film mit nutzlosen, nervigen und seelenlosen Figuren überfrachtet, für die man nicht einmal relevante Monologe oder Dialoge schreiben kann. Rebel Wilson verdient Bewunderung für das, was sie mit ihrem Gewicht geschafft hat, aber ich habe bei ihr mehr bei Glam Girls gelacht. Hätte ich den Film nicht zusammen mit meiner Freundin gesehen, die den Film ausgesucht hat, würde ich vielleicht sogar die schlechteste Bewertung vergeben. (21.05.2022)

Stephanie was supposed to be the star of the prom, but there was an accident. Now she's coming out of a coma after 20 years. She looks thirty-seven, but she's seventeen, and she's clear about what she wants: to finish school and become prom queen! Rebel Wilson is fine in the lead role of this Netflix comedy, and the poignant moments work unexpectedly well. Unfortunately, when it comes to humor, Alex Hardcastle seems to purposely try to sidestep anything funny in the script as much as possible. As a result, Senior Year is not a funny or witty film, but watching it will leave you feeling how funny and witty it could have been. (31.05.2022)

I don't think the film deserves the dis it's getting. I would say that a lot of people misunderstood it because there are a lot of words and figures of speech that are used mainly by today's younger generation. I enjoyed the film so much and laughed the whole time. It's not a respectable movie, but it's just great for an evening. I appreciate the courage of the filmmakers to portray in a big way the currents that move today, especially through the character of Bri. I hope a lot of people (and Americans in particular) have realized that it really looks all cynical from the outside looking in. As always, Rebel did not disappoint and I'm actually pleasantly pleased with the whole film. (22.05.2022)
