Jessie, die achtjährige Tochter des renommierten Psychiaters Dr. Nathan Conrad, wird entführt, aber die Erpresser um Patrick Koster verlangen kein Lösegeld. Stattdessen soll Conrad binnen weniger Stunden der traumatisierten Patientin seines Kollegen Dr. Sachs eine mysteriöse Nummer entlocken. Die 18-jährige Elisabeth hat das, worauf Koster seit Jahren wartet: einen Hinweis auf das Versteck eines wertvollen Diamanten, den Elisabeths ermordeter Vater einst hat verschwinden lassen. In the first two acts, the film is a very solid thriller, but suffers from the traditional pain of Hollywood productions: a botched ending. The main villain always has to suffer the most horrible, original, macabre and I don't know what else death, and there is no other way to do it. Maybe some people like it, but I find it boring. But whatever, Michael Douglas is still a great actor and it's nice to see Sean Bean again after a long time.

Don't Say a Word is a brilliant thriller whose greatest strengths are undoubtedly the excellent performances of the main cast: Michael Douglas, Brittany Murphy, Sean Bean. Fast pace, excellent atmosphere, various shots, slow-motion, flashbacks, simply excellent. It's just a shame about the ending.
