1852 in New Orleans: Die Südstaatenschönheit Julie provoziert ihren Verehrer Preston, eine gute Partie, mit ihrem unschicklichen Verhalten so lange, bis er mit ihr bricht. I have known for some time that Bette Davis is captivating, but thanks to this movie, I could see it again. Her performance is so fantastic that she has no competition in the film. She is not an actress that the camera loves, there were others for that, but she is an actress with incredible talent, who managed to portray uniquely. Her Julie is exactly the kind of woman that requires an excellent performer. The script itself is certainly not weak and has suitable twists.
