Set in Dublin. Maniac brutally slays a woman in her own home. The victim’s mangled corpse is discovered in a limousine owned by Swiss Ambassador Sobiesky (Anton Diffring) and a police investigation is launched, but when the murdering continues and the ambassador claims diplomatic immunity, tough ex-cop John Norton (Luigi Pistilli) is brought in to find the killer. The development of the co-production The Iguana with the Tongue of Fire is classic noir - the detective gets involved with a woman he shouldn't have anything to do with, the killing continues in the meantime, but none of it is all that interesting for the audience. Still, I like The Iguana with the Tongue of Fire for its atmosphere, the fact that you can tell at a glance that it's a giallo film and that the Dublin setting is actually fine. The final reveal is good.
