Das Dilemma mit den sozialen Medien

Ich hätte nicht erwartet, dass ich jemals so etwas fühlen werde. Hier ist es aber passiert: BITTE MEHR SPRECHENDE KÖPFE UND WENIGER VERSUCHE, DAS WERK WIE EINEN FILM ZU GESTALTEN. Das Thema ist verdienstvoll, die meisten Protagonis*innen sind ausgezeichnet. (14.09.2020)

Quite interesting and nicely shot, nut I expected more information. The second half focuses too much on politics and conspiracy theories, I was more interested in Facebook and Google. But it is worth watching. 6/10. (21.02.2021)

After watching this a slight depression came over me, and I didn't even want to comment on the documentary. However, I managed to shake off the depression after a good sleep, and I'm thinking that it might not be such a horror after all. It's a good documentary, and it definitely raises an idea and hopefully offers some facts. However, I was a little disturbed by the American excesses and affectation. I suppose the filmmakers felt it was necessary, but I still would have preferred that they had toned it down a bit. Okay, I'm shocked and horrified and wondering if I should throw away my phone, but I still don't think it’s that grim. 4 stars. (07.12.2020)

How to resolve the paradox that a company that bases its business on algorithms and creating dependency among its users produces a documentary about modern technology and its tools for creating dependency? By breaking up the statements of the talking heads with condescending and hyper-stylised scripted passages that turn everything that’s said into a literally mocking caricature. Five stars for the topic, four for the offered observations and one for execution. (28.09.2021)

Too much avoidance of the stupid-people factor. They talk about manipulation and algorithms in the hands of greedy corporations, but they forget people's lack of desire to educate themselves about these things and fight against the habit of clicking on the same things again and again. If we educated ourselves, rather than just surfing for fun and shopping, the internet would remain a center for education. But we behave like children who want everything right now and always just for a while. Children who have an opinion on everything and feel the need to spout it to the world instead of doing something with meaning…and now if you'll excuse me, I’m going to go plant a tree. :-D (30.09.2020)
