Der zwölfjährige Florian und sein geliebter Collie Lassie sind unzertrennlich und beste Freunde. Sie leben glücklich in einem idyllischen Dorf in Süddeutschland. Als Florians Vater seinen Job verliert, muss die Familie in eine kleinere Wohnung ziehen - keine Hunde erlaubt. Florian ist am Boden zerstört und muss Lassie weggeben. Lassie wird in die Hände von Graf von Sprengel gegeben, der mit ihr und seiner quirligen Enkelin Priscilla (12) an die Nordsee reist. Als der gemeine Hausmeister des Grafen Lassie nicht gut behandelt, nutzt sie die Gelegenheit zur Flucht und begibt sich auf eine abenteuerliche Reise durch Deutschland, zurück nach Bayern, zurück zu Florian, ihrem besten Freund.
