Englisch A tear-jerker with the great Pacino in the leading role. This certainly isn’t your classic romantic movie, in fact it’s as different as you can get. The way they meet and the entire development of their relationship is so incredibly weird that it might be too much for some viewers (my mom declared that, quote: “that woman is weird"), but in fact I found it completely absorbing, the same as lots of other details that step out of this movie. - Key. Key. Key, please. - It goes without a key. ()

Englisch I love Remarque, but Heaven does not know the chosen ones, it always came to me like his swan song. Again illness, again races, again gradual opening up and despite the undeniable quality, therefore, logical repetitiveness. That's why I might be surprised how perfectly this material suited Sydney Pollack. Although half of the work is done by Pacino's coolness and elegance, I still have to take my hat off for perfectly profound romance. Maybe precisely because compared to the original, a certain harshness is missing and the never disappearing hopelessness, and the desire for adventure and fulfillment gains greater emphasis. The tunnels during the car ride are perfect. ()

Englisch People with no relation to motoring (of which I’m one), don't be fooled by the poster with Al Pacino in a racing outfit, or Rady's comment here, this is in no way a "look behind the scenes of motorsport", the main character could be a skier or a cyclist and it would come out the same. It's not about cars, 95% of the time it's about an untypical romance, beautifully acted, without annoying clichés, not emotionally draining in the fateful ending and with one amazing love confession on top. However, those who like to rush through films and often use words like "boring" and "I'd cut it by half an hour" in their reviews, should avoid this slow-moving melodrama. ()

Englisch I can basically watch Al Pacino anytime, but even with him, towards the end, I felt it was a bit stretched and that not even the performances could save the fact that the film feels a bit empty. In the end, however, the enthusiasm for the actors' performances prevailed. Still, it would have been nice if the film had been shortened a bit and the fact that he was a racer had been emphasized more. ()
