Morris (Markees Christmas) ist ein übergewichtiger, dunkelhäutiger, amerikanischer Junge. Jedes dieser Merkmale führt dazu, dass er auffällt in Heidelberg. Dort lebt er mit seinem Vater Curtis (Craig Robinson), der im Trainerteam des hiesigen Profi-Fußball-Clubs arbeitet. Morris' Mutter ist vor nicht allzu langer Zeit gestorben. Er und Curtis sind eher wie Freunde, als dass sie eine typische Vater-Sohn-Beziehung hätten. Besonders ihre gemeinsame Liebe zu Hip-Hop schweißt sie zusammen. Morris´ einzige Kontakte in Heidelberg sind sein Vater und Inka (Carla Juri), seine private Deutschlehrerin. Sie will, dass Morris mehr Kontakt zu anderen Jugendlichen hat und rät ihm, regelmäßig in ein Jugendzentrum zu gehen. Dort trifft er Katrin (Lina Keller) – und verliebt sich sofort in sie. Katrin ist rebellisch und kann es kaum erwarten, endlich dem kleinbürgerlichen Heidelberg zu entkommen. Im Gegensatz zu allen anderen, die Morris ablehnen und hänseln, findet Katrin Morris irgendwie interessant. (Farbfilm Verleih)

I liked this. Markees Christmas and Craig Robinson make a great duo, with the former brilliantly portraying the awkward, lanky kid who's starting to go through puberty, and the latter playing the tired father who knows he's not doing enough for his son but is trying his best. I enjoyed watching this simply because I wanted to see how their relationships and others' relationships would develop. Never mind that it doesn't have an ending. A glimpse into the life of an incomplete family.

It’s basically a three-star small-scale film, but I have to say that I have really enjoyed watching it. I rooted for Morris and wished him at least a little bit of luck. But the screenwriter was a bitch, and he was giving Morris a hard time for the whole time in the, in Morris’s opinion, filthy Germany. Well, all’s well that ends well, so I have to say that this peek into the life of a boy who feels that he doesn’t belong in a small German town is pretty accurate. I also liked the camera and the Heidelberg locations. I would go there right away.
