Nise - O Coração da Loucura

Brazil in 1944. Here, to an asylum where the only so-called therapy consists of electric shocks, a female doctor named Nise de Silveria arrives. She brings new theories, is familiar with the work of Carl Gustav Jung and treats the patients as human beings. With the help of an art programme for the patients deemed hopeless cases by her mail colleagues, she manages to unveil the subconscious, innate confidence of the inmates. When, on top of that, art critics applaud several of their pieces, the success is complete. Nise – the Heart of Madness is the amazing true story of a woman who managed to turn a stale institution on its head and restore human worth to its inhabitants.
