The first season wasn’t all that impressive but, then again, not a total disappointment either. The first half of the series seemed rather unconvincing, the second half was much more balanced. The writing was much better, and I had a great time as a result. At first, the whole thing strongly reminded me of Stranger Things, later it also made me remember Brian Lumley's “Necroscope” series. The resemblance to the Perchorsk Incident was considerable (minus the vampires). 4*- (21.05.2019)

I couldn't give more than three pieces to the introductory part because I haven't yet fully deciphered what I actually saw. Whatever it was, it had a great atmosphere. The problem for me was that I felt a certain lack of originality in the episode, and just like the throne, I sense where the author of the screenplay drew inspiration from. (18.05.2019)

Alright, I've caught on and I finally understand what I'm actually watching, but I feel oddly conflicted. On one hand, I'm really enjoying the series so far, I can't fault the atmosphere or the suspense, and there's even a decent amount of tension. On the other hand, I'm bothered by the fact that the series is heavily influenced by Stranger Things, the creators couldn't resist including the power plant. (18.05.2019)

Finally, I found a reason to add a star. I really enjoyed the year 1986, I enjoyed the soundtrack, and I even liked the idea of the creators semi-patiently showing the viewers who's who, but there was one thing that made me pause a bit. I wasn't surprised that Mikkel easily solved Mr. Rubik's cube, he is certainly a clever guy, but what amazed me was how smoothly he managed the dial of a vintage telephone. (18.05.2019)

I am slowly beginning to realize that I am getting addicted to the eighties, I really enjoyed the last episode, now it wasn't so famous anymore. Even in this series, there is no shortage of constant accusations of new suspects, whose behavior is so suspicious that it is obvious, only to later turn out to be a false lead. I have seen it so many times that it slightly bores me. But Elizabeth definitely had a funny hat. (19.05.2019)

The fifth episode didn't deviate from the slight above average for me again. I was considering raising the rating to four stars because of the events at the end of the episode, but it was lacking the element of surprise for me. The creators prepared me for this development for quite a long time, so there was definitely no twist. (19.05.2019)

So this time it worked out, thanks to Jonas things started moving forward again, only the crawling through the cave system could have been a little bit shorter. Surprisingly, I actually had a good time discussing old grievances and betrayals, the only thing missing in Winden now is Mr. Gaunt and his shop. (19.05.2019)

The seventh episode may not have gotten rid of all the flaws, but either I was in a better mood today, or the script really turned out better than in previous cases. Either way, I caught myself having a good time, and I simply had to appreciate it with an extra star. (20.05.2019)

Alright, I admit that the creators of the series really got to me for the first time. I was already very satisfied with the episode dedicated to 1986, but I didn't expect this ace up their sleeve. The 66-year time jump was truly successful and the development (or rather destruction) of Ulrich's psyche was of high quality. (20.05.2019)

I wasn't as captivated by the plot this time as I was in the previous episode. I felt that the confrontation between Katharina and Hannah unnecessarily slowed down the pace of the story. However, I really enjoy watching the development of the individual characters over the course of 66 and 33 years respectively. The episodes at the end of the first season resonate with me much better than the previous ones. (20.05.2019)

The final episode disappointed me in half and pleased me in half, so I ultimately decided to give it a weaker rating of four stars. At times, I felt like the creators lost their way in their own script, and I also didn't appreciate the rushed and somewhat unfinished ending. However, I did enjoy the plot of the last episode, and because I was treated to an interesting open-ended conclusion, I will definitely watch the next season. 4* (21.05.2019)
