Das Haus mit dem dunklen Keller

Was sollte es in diesen heißen Tagen Besseres geben als einen netten Giallo-Film? Dies zählt zwar zu den sehr späten Werken, aber die Verfallsfrist ist nicht abgelaufen. Bava arbeitet hier sehr gut mit den großen Räumen eines großen Hauses. Eine junge Frau nach der anderen betritt das Haus, um von einem mysteriösen Mörder / Mörderin ermordet zu werden. Manchmal herrscht eine schöne Atmosphäre, leider ist der Film zu lang, um den Zuschauer in der Primär-Spannung zu halten. Der Zuschauer ist eher genervt, um die Wahrheit zu sagen. Die Damen sind wunderschön, der Mord an einer von ihnen im Badezimmer ist effektvoll, die Musik ist auch großartig. Die Nebenrollen sind mit Michele Soavi und einem blonden Jungen aus Fulcis Das Haus an der Friedhofsmauer besetzt. Was möchte man mehr? Ja, mir ist es schon klar, mehr Argent. (27.06.2017)

Die Figuren unterhalten sich so, als ob ihr IQ 80 wäre. Die englische Synchronisierung entwürdigt auch noch die Schauspielleistungen (die schon an sich nicht besonders gut sind). Aus technischer Sicht funktioniert der Film aber. Die visuelle Seite ist nicht so ausgefeilt wie bei Dario Argento (auch kein Breitbildformat). In Kombination mit der wirkungsvollen Musik und dem langsamen Tempo der Geschichte sorgt sie aber für eine angenehme Spannung und einen geheimnisvollen Charakter. Der Film gewinnt die Aufmerksamkeit des Publikums und manchmal erlebt man sogar eine Ekstase. Dieser Giallo-Thriller ist ein bisschen dumm, seine technische Seite ist aber sehr gut. The impression of the length of the film "La casa con la scala nel buio" is also spoiled by the fact that the dialogues here are really strange and do not help the film much; they are artificial and you have the feeling that you are listening to someone reciting rehearsed lines, rather than following real characters. Of course, they are actors, but they should strive for the most realistic portrayal of their characters. Despite all the criticisms, however, Bav's film cannot be rated as completely below average, for a simple reason. There are elements here that stand out. First and foremost, it is the music, and secondly, the tension that occasionally creeps into the film. It's just a shame that the creators didn't play with it a little better, didn't try to maintain it. When there was a buildup to a really suspenseful scene, it was interrupted by a cut. Maybe the mistake was made in the editing, I don't know, but it's a shame. A shorter and better edited film would stand out significantly above average. (21.12.2013)
