In der Militäranlage Presidio geschieht eines Nachts ein Mord: Beim Kontrollgang wird eine Polizistin erschossen. Lt. Colonel Alan Caldwell (Sean Connery) leitet auf militärischer Seite die Ermittlungen und muss mit dem Cop Jay Austin (Mark Harmon) zusammenarbeiten. Die beiden kennen sich von früher - können sich aber nicht ausstehen. Als Caldwell den Tatverdächtigen stellen will, flüchtet dieser - und wird absichtlich überfahren. (Sat.1)
