Muzzikanti is the film full of songs and tunes based on the folk roots and contemporary young rock. Its story is set in the borders of the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Poland – in a rough, but scenic countryside of Cieszyn Silesia, where there a word of a man still has its strength, glamour of women attracts since time immemorial and the music is irreplaceable. Die Voraussetzungen bestanden hier sicher - ein erfahrener slowakischer Regisseur, eine stark mitteleuropäische Besetzung, eine dankbare musikalische Thematik. Das Ergebnis jedoch leider recht schlecht. Petr Šiška kann ein Mann vieler Berufe sein, doch das Drehbuchschreiben wird nicht zu seinen Stärken zählen. Die Geschichte ist nichts wert, es ist ein verwirrendes Patchwork aus mehr oder weniger gelungenen musikalischen Nummern, misslungenen Szenen tschechischer Pseudopromis und entblößter Körper von Michalina und Sára. Ein Sternchen für Michalina, deren unglaubliches Talent in einem solchen Mist nur schade ist, das zweite Sternchen für die recht gute Musik.

The script, direction and acting are not up to much, but thanks to the quite passable music, shots of the beautiful landscape of Silesia and the decent acting of Patrik Děrgel, it is still somehow livable through. I just was disappointed that Patrik didn't actually do any singing himself. He could certainly have managed, although perhaps not as well as Peter Cmorik. (40%)
