DIE REISE MIT VATER ist eine bewegende Geschichte und sie spielt in einem bewegten Jahr - 1968. Vor dem Hintergrund des "Prager Frühlings" erzählt sie von Rumäniendeutschen aus Arad (Rumänien) - zwei ungleichen Brüdern und ihren Vater - die sich auf eine Reise in die DDR begeben. Nach Wunsch des älteren Bruders soll dort durch eine Operation des lebensüberdrüssigen Vaters das Familiengleichgewicht wieder hergestellt werden. Doch als die Grenzen zurück in die CSSR durch sowjetische Panzer geschlossen werden und die Familie sich plötzlich in der BRD wieder findet, stellt sich in der neuen Situation die universelle Frage: Ist das scheinbar zum Greifen nahe persönliche Glück wichtiger als die Familie? I recently saw this show where foreigners from different parts of the world rated Czech movies. Cosy Dens was the movie they criticized the most. They couldn’t understand the absurdity, the setting, the historic context with which people of those times had to live every day. In the end, they criticized it, saying that it was nonsense and that we should stop making movies set in the Communist era. If they knew that to a large extent European cinematography lives on the history of the individual countries, they probably couldn’t stop wondering. This movie is a case in point. Beautiful cinematography for which the Romanians managed to get almost half of Europe on board as co-producers and on top of that, a part of it takes place in our country. There’s no way we could dislike a movie like this, is there?
